I have the same problem with my 08.

Were you able to resolve this?

The resolution in this particular thread can be seen in post #20, where it turned out to involve rodent teeth, and an insurance claim.

That won't turn out to be the exact cause or the exact resolution in every case, of course. But if you are looking for what the behavior indicates and how to go about troubleshooting it, you can start with post #6 in this thread.

I’m not clear what’s the cure for it.

The cure for any issue, in general, is to first find out what's causing the issue in your car, and then fix that.

Doing what cured it for somebody else only works if what's causing it is the same as what caused it for them, and you don't know that before doing the troubleshooting.

ChapmanF, on Friday I finally got my car back. It only took 7 weeks I think... Rodent damage did indeed cause the problem with the heater as well as the auto light function. The hvac box assembly with servo motors was replaced. As well as a sub harness and ac amp and heater core hose. Rather remarkable what damage a rodent can cause. And one final thank you to ChapmanF for all the wisdom you provided. You thought there was (likely) a wiring issue and you were right. Thanks!
