What are your thoughts on this part number for the inverter coolant pump: 04000-32528?

    I figure some of you might have some genuine insight on this part and how it relates/compares to the usual G9020-47031.

    1 dealer guy thought it might be a campaign only part but wasn't sure, thought tap into the collective knowledge pool here in case their are any parts experts among us

    Interestingly, the thread that seems to have the most useful information in it won't come up in that search (because it has that number just in the thread title, not in the body). You can find it in a link in one of the hits that do come up.

    TL;DR that thread isn't saying the 04000-numbered part is counterfeit. Toyota does use 040... part numbers, and typically those will be kits that include some combination of other individually available parts. (And sometimes the kits are less money, presumably because they move more of them.) This one is a kit that includes the pump and a new gasket for your transmission coolant drain plug, since you'll need one anyway.

    On the other hand, the thread does mention that some sellers are using the same part number to hawk counterfeit products. It gives a bunch of details you can look for to tell if you've received a counterfeit. I have mixed feelings about guides like that, because they also say "hey counterfeiters! do these things differently so you can fool us!". But I guess they're kind of useful at least until the counterfeiters catch up.

    Ok, so basically it looks like 0400032528 is a kit which contains G9020-47031 and a gasket. Cool, so there is no problem if I order one vs the other from a toyota dealer online.

    The weird thing is some dealers type in the 04000-32528 part number into their system and they can't tell me what that is because they say it doesn't come up in their system. It also doesn't come up on parts.toyota.com which is also weird.

    Any thoughts on why 04000-32528 doesn't show up on the master toyota dealer parts database at parts.toyota.com? I'll be buying my parts from a Toyota dealer with an online parts portal but the fact that that part doesn't show up on parts.toyota.com gave me pause and made me wonder...

    Well, as a test, I tried that with another kit part number just now.

    T-SB-0027-16 is a TSB that announced an EGR valve update for Gen 3, and it gives a kit part number, 04004-58137, which includes the newer EGR valve and three gaskets needed when replacing it. (And, many people have found, the kit price is better than the valve by itself.)

    And I've just put that kit part number in the search at parts.toyota.com and nothing came up. I think that's just how they do it with these kit packages; they aren't included in the catalog of individual parts.

    Apparently any manufacturer can cheapen up processes enough to make almost anything junk and it seems that's a race to the bottom that a lot of manufacturers are participating in so be careful I changed out that pancake type inverter pump to a pump that I've used for years and thousands of applications for other things and I know they have stupid long life etc etc so I don't think I'll be visiting mine during the rest of my ownership. It's not the pump where it's design it's buying a cheap version thereof I've taken several of the cheap versions and cut them open with a multi-tool and what have you by looking the soldering the circuit board the impeller everything looks to be fairly bland and normal so I don't know what doing the failing or locking up or burning up or whatever this was a direct comparison to a Toyota brand new version of this pump All the cheap ones look the same I really couldn't tell by soldering or bored color or any of that nonsense that anything was a miss but apparently it certainly is.
