2015 Prius with 17 inch Wheels

    I could take a look. I don’t have a gauge because we are staying out of town from home at the time being, but if I come across one I’ll shoot you an image. Do you have stock 15’s?

    The truth is, while I think I’d eke out a few extra MPG’s with 15’s, my real reason is potholes. I’ve had bad experiences in the past with low profile tires. My logic is, if I hit a bad pothole with 15’s perhaps I’d only lose a tire rather than losing a tire and a rim with the 17’s. Not that I steer for them, mind you. :^)

    As I’ve reviewed the responses on here, I’ve thought perhaps of trying to find a cheap aftermarket setup rather than an out and out swap just in case I think it’s no good. Primarily because of the difficulties in retraining or swapping the TPMS. My guess is that even if I swapped them, the tire pressure range will be different. I can’t remember on this system if the TPMS trains to your current tire pressure or if it’s factory preset. I have a Ford van that you train with the current pressure you have in your tires.

    You'll actually do real well in the potholes with the 15s really well The 17s will be dead You can't hardly look at those without them having damage but the 15s will take a beating especially if you have the right tires on them

    You can set it relative to your current pressures by pressing the button---as explained in the owner's manual.

    I have my snow tire/rims. but if I swap then my current 15s on my car will be converted to snow tire/rim set.

    I'm not sure what's different from the 17" wheels you all talk about and mine but... I haven't died from hitting a pothole and I take my Prius where I only see 4x4 vehicles and drive my Prius in a manner I know the manufacturer did not think the vehicle would be driven... no costly suspension issues yet. In fact, I am trying to find them as the word is a Prius lifted over 1.5" inches will have suspension issues, and I'm well over 5"inches of lift and eagerly awaiting the day there is an issue, to know the weakest link then to proceed to manufacture a stronger part!

    ^^^ You don't have the OEM standard 40 series tires on those 17 inch wheels/rims though.

    Those 55 series tires provide the rim protection necessary to avoid damaging the wheels.

    Try your off-road adventures with some 215/45/R17 tires.

    We've got the 17's, with 215/45R17 Primacies: on familiar routes I have muscle memory as to where all the ruts, speed bumps and sunken manholes are...
