    Hi guys,

Picked up my FWD XLE last week. My car was delivered with only one key Fob. Dealer said there is still a shortage and Toyota has an open bulletin to provide a second fob when it’s available. Anyone else have the same experience? Is there a way to expedite the 2nd fob? 2 of us sharing a car and it would be nice to have the second fob.

somehow, toyota can make cars, but not enough fobs. i can't understand it.

people are still waiting since last fall, and being told maybe this fall, so don't hold your breath.

there is a program where they will sell you one in the parts department if you claim you lost the first one, but idk if toyota will ever rebate you the money or not. should be around $400.

yes i recently bought a limited awd and didn’t know about this until everything was signed and i was getting the keys. It’s bullshit -
Toyota should at the very least comp the remote phone access w/ digital key until they can give us the second key fob

I can just imagine a maritime accident where the ship full of FOBs sinks and you are delayed another year.

Well if they give you 2 keys....they can charge you $400 when you want a second one. Ask for a refund of the cost of a second key? Or if your reading this thread and buying a new car....HOLD OUT FOR A SECOND KEY.

Toyota comps the remote access for a year on all 2023 Prius models.

Does the 2023 prius have digital key, I thought it didn't? I know it gets the app but digital key actually let's you start the car and drive w your phone. If so, yes it would be nice if you got free access until a month after your 2nd key fob is delivered

Same here, 1 fob and being told 6-8 weeks for the 2nd... not holding my breath after reading all of this though. Digital key works but is a little quirky so would prefer a physical key/fob

Same here. My sales rep did not tell me about the shortage. All he said was that Toyota will mail me the second keyfob. In my mind I was going to receive it in a week or two but after doing research, looks like the wait will be much longer.

The dealer set mine up with an electronic key on my iphone. He did show me the mechanical key that he had for the car that would eventually go into the new fob. Believe it or not, I picked up my car a week ago and just today I thought "I never got that door opening key that goes with the second FOB" Did you at least receive that? I checked my glove box, the folder that my paperwork came in and they never gave it to me. I can say without a single doubt that it never touched my hands.

Only a year? I had no idea. Lame. That makes the Digital Key option a total let down for me.

And I didn’t realize that remote engine start also needs a subscription. I won’t be paying for that.

If the subscriptions were reasonably priced, I might consider it. With that said, the only time I've tried to use remote start, it didn't work. The vehicle was within eye-shot about 500 yards away, but apparently not within cell service range (even though my phone had service).

On the topic, my pickup was in April and the salesman said "unknown" when I will get the 2nd FOB. I'm not holding my breathe for this year.

If you have the digital key option as part of your purchase price, the 1st year is free and includes the ability to remote start among other things. $15/mo after the year is up.
