P0A80 & U0129 appeared simultaneously.

    2012 Prius V with about 140k miles. This car has never had a CEL prior to a few weeks ago when:

    Driving back from another state I stop at gas station to add fuel, no lights on dash. After fueling I power up the car to see: ABS, Traction Control, Brake, CEL, and the car symbol with a vertical line (see attached).

    Once in this mode the brakes appear just fine (brake assist, no change from normal) but there's no help from the hybrid battery when driving (jerky from a stop, poor acceleration, poor gas mileage).

    An ODB2 reset can often clear the battery error for a few days when the car works fine but then it just comes back. I've monitored the hybrid block voltages thru car scanner (attached) and I don't see anything wrong. I consider myself fairly handy and would/could service the bad battery blocks if I believed there was a really a problem with the hybrid battery.

    What also has me guessing is why both of these codes seem to come & go in unison.

    I did pull the hybrid fan blower and cleaned it up. It had a lot of dust but certainly was far from clogged. I verified it spins up fine.

    Was (is) there anything plugged into the OBD2 port? An intermittent connection there has been reported to throw these exact errors and conditions.

    Not the first time it happened and generally no. It's my wife's day-to-day car and the only time something is plugged into ODB2 port is when I'm in it reading codes.

    Best thing to do is to let the dealer get some codes before you clear them. There are two common issues that are possible. One is the brake booster system. This could qualify for a Toyota extended warranty if the date of first use was August 2, 2012 or later (eg ten years from date of first use and under 150,000 miles). Appropriate codes must be present. The car might be going into limp mode with this error. Brakes don't have to fail 100% to code, it can be an extended brake booster pump operation. Usually the pump can be heard running very frequently when something is failing.

    The second and most obvious thing is the hybrid battery, especially if its original. Generally it will have an obvious code as well including the one you have. There are new options from $1600 new cells, lithium cells or Toyota cells.

    Sometimes the abs lights come on with a battery or other unrelated code. Given the expiring (or expired) brake booster program, the smart move is to get it diagnosed at the dealer when codes are active. There are other hybrid codes as well that could be your issue such as inverter coolant pump or the inverter itself. The inverter has an unlimited program.

    The brake booster doesn't make any sound at all (ever) that I've noticed (or it's just a LOT quieter than my 2007 Gen2 clacker).

    It runs almost everytime you enter the car in the morning. Some don't hear it. It usually runs after braking where the hydraulics are used, eg not just regen braking. Those operations are hard to hear with road noise.

    The brake booster, being nothing but a hydraulic chamber at the rear of the master cylinder piston, doesn't really make any sound, that's right.

    The brake booster pump, a different part, sounds a little bit like a quiet rattlesnake or joy buzzer. It'll normally give a brief run every few times you've used the brakes.

    Ok. Yes I just changed out the rattlesnake in my 2007. The new rattlesnake is much quieter.

    I don't believe the issue with the 2012 has anything to do with the brakes rather it's an extension of the hybrid battery error.

    I am having this some code, and co communication with the abs pump module and skid control module..
