Replaced clockspring, now I need some advise

A couple of months ago I ordered a new clockspring for my 2004 Prius. The cruise control was acting wonky, flashing CC light, so I decided to replace the clocksping. It worked fine for about a month then the CC began flashing, again, and the CEL light and the SRS light came on and stayed on. Got tired of seeing this Christmas tree effect so today I replaced the clockspring again. But just as soon as I started the Prius up the SRS and CEL lights were lit up. But the CC worked fine.

Now I'm wondering what would cause the CEL and SRS dash lights to light up when a new clockspring is installed? What should I be looking for to correct this situation? After reviewing previous posts about wonky clocksprings it seems that maybe the male pins get bent over and good contact is not present. I'll check that, but just wondering if I should check something else, also.

    Thanks.

The clock spring red line was aligned in the clear window when you installed the clock spring new or used I need to make sure of that SRS is involving all the yellow plugs connected to airbags under the seats and all of it when I had my dash apart and reassembled the yellow SRS connector way over in the far right corner of the dash got me one time had to take most of the cash back out to get to it. I would think there would be individual codes for the SRS light being present that generally gives the code I can't remember all the codes by memory but they are definitely there and they're easy to scan they're not prius specific

Where are you getting the clocksprings you're putting in?

Fixed it! When I was pulling out the old one I noticed a yellow connector kinda fell out of the female outlet. At the time I thought it was odd, had that connector's retaining clip broke and it no longer made a good, solid connection? Well, after pondering it all day I just went out to my Prius and pulled the airbag off and the steering wheel off. Then I found the yellow clip I had just installed and low and behold it fell out into my hand. Odd. So I grabbed the yellow connector and pushed it back into it's mating recess and it didn't seem to click in. It slipped back out. Now this got me really thinking. So I took a firm hold of the connector and really pushed it and BAM! it clicked into place, nice and solid. Put everything back together and the dash lights did not come on making me very happy that I had corrected the problem.

Now since my scan tool says there are no trouble codes being stored within the Prius's brain, I'm wondering why there still is a Maintenance light coming on? Is there a special process to clear out ,say, an oil change reminder light? What could be triggering this light to appear?

Thanks for all the replies. I just knew someone on here would have the answer. Maybe this post will help someone with a very similar problem.

The maintenance reminder just counts miles, and goes away when you reset it like this.
