Salvage OEM vs a/m suspension parts

    Planning to keep Gen 3, 2010 120k for another hundred and insurance repair wants a/m napa for control arm and stabilizer link for one wheel. The dealer has a/m parts for body, but estimate includes oem parts for suspension, which insurance doesn't agree to. One of the suspension parts is weirdly being sourced from a scrap yard and charged 25% higher than new oem. Assuming parts are used salvage, is that better or worse than aftermarket? New oem would be obviously better, but is it that critical for an older car despite the fact the that part is a mechanical part?

    I'd rather have the suspension parts off of the salvage car at a salvage yard etc maybe even I can go take the parts off myself even better like LKQ you're talking lower control arms and the aluminum hub assemblies and things like that should be no problem literally you can just pick a car that was a rear-ended usually all those front end parts are quite good shape maybe any ball joints and or bearings should be replaced unless you can document your taking these front end parts wheel bearing hub assemblies off of an extremely low mileage car then you could leave those bearings and what not alone more than likely but most of these cars you're going to find are pushing 200k so you might want to refresh any ball joints and or bearings in the pieces you're buying before you install them on the car just something to think about. Aftermarket stamp steel parts and other parts are seemingly becoming really easy to screw up and companies don't seem to care when things don't fit or line up or whatever they just make them so they can sell them in advertise them A lot of places don't care the end result.

    The trouble with mechanical parts...salvage..is the rubber bushings ie lower control arm are also old.. Anything with a rubber bushing I would go New aftermarket. Or OEM. Which exact parts are we talking about?

    Not to sure. Dealer is quoting Toyota parts and Toyota parts numbers at parts.toyota.com prices for two of the suspension parts and a higher price from the outsourced part that when you google turns out to be a salvage yard. Regardless, insurance is a hard no on new oem.

    I would find a new insurance company. They provide a service you PAY for... I have a claim..OEM was destroyed replace with OEM. Or by that thought process. My prius is totalled I'll take a Lamborghini instead.
