    This battery chassis ground:

Hope you didn't use alot of auto part store parts. They are no where's near the quality of OEM parts and will be troublesome down the road. And like Lead said counterfeits are everywhere in factory looking boxes. The OEM coils for instance for a G2 are $200 each last time I looked. There half that at the parts store.

Don't know why you discounted the cat its throwing a P420 and you have misfires in all cylinders which means whatever it is its common to all cylinders.

Its a high mile engine. Here's the deciding factors on the cat:

1---Has the engine ever run so low on oil it threw a check engine light?

2---Does the engine eat oil I'm sure it does it's just a matter of how much. How much?

And as far as cleaning the throttle body you also have to remove the 2 rubber hoses that go from the valve body to the TB and clean them
they may be clogged. Check the ends of the hoses there probably cracked and not sealing. If so they need to be replaced. See picture. With those hoses off the TB you can see the ports they plug into at the TB are probably clogged with goo. If so the pcv valve is probably clogged too.

Since your in Ca I would def do a compression check on the engine before messing around with a new cat.

Yes I have removed all the TB hoses and cleaned them as well. I will check the hoses again for cracks.. I cleaned the PCV valve as well... So the way this transpired was before any check engine light or issues. I pumped gas at costco and then 30-40 miles later i got triangle of death and stall... scan showed a p0171, then started car and drove back home and cleared code.. CEL again showed p0171 and p0302 a cylinder misfire... Now all of those went away and i am getting a p0420 that only shows pending but eventually gets triggered as a fault when you drive 20-30 miles... I have never ran car low on oil, the oil light and CEL never came on for low oil. I do oil changes religiously and keep up with it all. I use only DENSO and NGK spark plugs on parts.. I am told to do a fuel trim as well... I bought new fuel injectors and am going to try swappnig fuel injectors next... I did use a fuel addictive after i got the issues.. maybe some gunk came out and got stuck in the Fuel injectors? what do you think. is fuel injectors plausible to take a look at at this point? Thanks

hey thanks for the writeup. I use torque pro right now but i know dr.prius is better obviously.. I hope it is not a new battery I need. I am trying to resolve everything before resorting to a new battery. Car drives fine, just dealing with the p0420 right now. With torque pro, my app shows all the battery cells equal and even voltage even with a load.

I don't know how to use the torque app. Here's how to interpret what it is hopefully telling you, once you get to the right readout.

A P0171 trouble code indicates that the engine is running lean. This can be confirmed by looking at the long term fuel trim. So you either have a vacuum leak (too much air) or a fuel pump going bad (not enough fuel). I do not think you have any issues with your fuel injectors. Do some research on how to look at the long term fuel trim using the Torque app.

Your P420 trouble code is a separate issue which needs to be addressed after fixing the engine running lean.
