Looking for advice to choose on my next Prius purchase, please!

    Option A)
    2018 Prius Four FWD
    98,300 miles
    $18,700

How concerned should I be about the high mileage? I've had a couple before, a 2013 with about 60k miles, and no problems, and then a 2016 with about 50k miles and no problems either.

I think there's some major maintenance I'll have to do at 100K miles?

On the pros side, I obviously like the price better, and it's a local dealership

    Option B)
2020 Toyota Prius LE FWD (Which the carfax shows as an L Eco, so that was a bit confusing)
    72,600 miles
    $21,887 (this includes 1,000 Delivery fee) :.)

I definitely like the fact that this has Carplay and better features, if I'm not mistaken, and the lower mileage, for sure.

A big downside is that I need to have it delivered, marking up the price (even though CarGurus is showing it's at a good price, regardless), and higher price.

Any thoughts? Is it worth paying the 3,000 extra for a car that's 2 years older and about 25,000 miles less?

    Thanks, everyone.

Not sure if or how the schedule might vary in your country, but for North American Prius you can download the US Warranty and Maintenance Booklet, at Toyota Tech Info (US website, just google). Click on the "Manuals" tab on the home page, enter you car's stat's (division, model, year), and you'll see all the pdf format documents, available for download.

I've made a spreadsheet summary of the Toyota schedule, which is event-by-event format, a difficult read (see attached).

@Christian Bjork I just did the 100k service on my highlander hybrid and it wasn't even 500 bucks and I don't think it would be any more for a Prius, plus, maybe you can get the dealer to do it if they haven't already. 100k isn't crazy w/ respect to mileage, but to me, the two things you should really be weighing overall:
    • the 2018 is a four and has way more equipment than the 2020
    • the 2020 has a 10 year/150k mile battery warranty vs. the 8 year/100k of the 2018
Personally, I value equipment and being able to put my eyes on a car in person if possible, so would lean towards the 18, with the bonus of saving a few bucks on the overall outlay. I can't say I'd blame anyone for going to the 2020 for the battery warranty alone though..

i like the 2020, and all things being equal, i would opt for it.

    but

if you have to have it delivered, does that mean no test drive? in that case, the 18 looks like a fine vehicle, and has a ton of life left in it

Thanks so much everyone for your feedback... It's just a really big decision for me, but it seems I'll finally have to opt for the 2018, with it being "in town" and being able to drive it. It drove nicely, but just needed some detailing and they're replacing the windshield for me (big rock chip/crack), and has weather mats included. I'll let you guys know!
