That's exactly right North Carolina you would just do this and as long as the light goes out you're good and here in North Carolina you could probably get a rider for a year to try and get the light off and then if the car is I think 20 years old here you don't have to have anything but a safety inspection I didn't even realize that until recently so all my whole Corollas their grandfathered in I can have any lights on I want as long as it passes it safety inspection so this is a go and that's what I thought but in California they're going to actually get up under the car and verify that this is a fake converter or whatever even though there's no light on no codes nothing happening no need to even be living there I mean that doesn't even make good sense and yet vehicle can be flying down the road smoke pouring out of it weird

 

Depends on where you smog it. My gas station hasn't looked under or cared in 4 smogs. Even the smog legal ones are like $700 I believe.

Yes and thank goodness where I live that code doesn't mean squat All I have to have is a safety inspection The rest is null and void The rest is null and void

 

Mine's been doing this my '09 with my factory cat It's never been replaced someone tried to steal it they got The sawzall or whatever under there and then they were scared off All that happened was a scar on the pipe that my muffler guy just ran a beat over but already I had been running for years with the converter light code p0420 for at least two years No one could get it to clear sensors all that stuff nothing denso taken out of a car running with no codes move directly to my car codes That's how we eliminated most everything I didn't have another converter that I could easily move from a working car with no codes I certainly don't want to pay $700 to $1,000 to get one that's supposed to do the trick and still have the light and the code when it doesn't even matter in my state that I have the code in the light

 

That's why I think in states with their pretty strict with this there's a way to get a referee and a rider because the Toyota dealer can't guarantee you that when they put in their $1,800 catalytic converter the lights going to go off etc they won't put it on paper so there's that And if the car is running clean and can pass a sniff test at the carb board office. Then the vehicle should be left alone and allowed to pass and continue to be used whatever till somebody can come up with something that makes good sense not you have to sell it and buy a new car that's ridiculous That's just the government trying to keep people in car payments for absolutely no reason but then again this is all happening generally over 200,000 what I would expect to be considered the life of the car
