Like numerous posts I've seen here, when I attempted to replace the passenger side dim bulb on my 2012 Prius Plug-in, I didn't get it in straight and the hot bulb, lying against its plastic socket, melted the socket. Does anyone hear know whether the socket itself can be replaced without replacing the whole headlight assembly?

I'm not sure what halogen bulb you're using in that hole I have to go look again at mine are LED on gen3 single projector . I want to say their h8 and h11 high beam or that's reversed I can't remember I know they've all been replaced and I put them in there but I have to look up what bulbs were put there and they don't ever get hot enough to melt anything You might be able to take a Dremel and a heat gun or something like that and straighten the mess out this is another reason why I don't like to run the halogen bulbs in my motorcycles even the tail light bulbs non-halogen would get hot enough that it would eat the plastic up of the housing forcing replacement several times over ownership of the machine switching to LEDs eliminated this for the life of the machine so hence the low heat is a great thing right off the bat and there's a wind for LED even though extreme adjustments will be need to be made on the housing If you have the fake projector you've got no worries it's got a built-in cut off and everything is lovely You can shove anything in there you want and you're cut off is pretty much going to be the same. Now the way the light reflects is a little different. And you may need to dip your housing's down. When you lower them enough and you're doing this at night you will all of a sudden see the cutoff line start lowering on your garage door or whatever you're using and you'll see it just plain as day your other one will be just a whole spot lit up and the one you're adjusting on bringing down now you have the cutoff perfect You put it on the line on your garage door where you want it and go over and do the other housing It's amazing how many cranks you're having to crank down on the housing to bring the cut off on the line on your garage door or whatever you're using It is wild It took like 10 cranks on that little 10 mm adjusting bolt I don't use the screwdriver I can ever get that to work well I put a 8 mm socket on the very back of that adjustment and adjust from there.

Yes if you just want to replace and run do no work you need to replace the assembly aftermarket whatever matches all of that.
