    Hi to all of you!

    My prius in 2010 with 360.000km on it.
    I recently replace head gasket, did the job myself. After that car run ok, some random missfire on startups, not enough to trigger any code. After about 2000 km I got p0171 System Too Lean Bank 1, so I replace fuel pump and O2 sensor. When replacing O2 sensor I foun that my exhoust manfold was not screwed firm the on engine. So that must me the reason why I got System Too Lean code, but in fact it was disrupted O2 sensor do to exoust leak. So engine was adding to much fuel for last 2000 km and actually run to reach. After installing new O2 sensor and seal exoust manifold, I unhooked 12V battery to errase long term fuel trim. Engine started for 10s and than shoth down and put up P3190.

    12V battery is recharged;
    PCV valve cleaned;
    Intake manifold cleaned;
    All hoses ceheckd and on thet places;
    PCV new;
    Fuel pump new;

    Any sugestiong what to do next?

    I use bluedriver to read codes and there is no other code to put me in any direction.

    Is it possible that ICE has so much sediments from unburned fuel, that higher friction and higher pressure (do to lower combustion chamber volume) cause enginge to output 20% less torque and that way trigger P3190?
    If that is possible I could open head again and clean sediments...

    I really like my car and am not happy to be considering selling it cheap to dealer.
    Any useful ideas would be much appreciated.

    I also seen when it was still driving, that when idling it did not charge the battery for brief moments, and battery was quite low. That could show, that ICE did not make enough output... But when I put my foot down there were no problem, car run fine and it has expected acceleration.

    Maybe your mass air flow sensor or its wires is dirty or got damaged? If you have a friend with same Prius you can quickly swap out that sensor to confirm that's the problem.

    Mass air flow sensor is shining clean, cleaned with proper cleaner, before and once again after P3190.

    That sensor is easily damaged and can wear out...

    Another thought is could these symptoms be related to buying a bad tank of gas from a place you don't ordinarily buy gas?

    Also do a google search that looks like this and start reading:

    Throttl body cleaned theraly. I take a lot of time when replacing head gasket, trying to do it right the first time, cleaning all the parts I need to take off.

    It was my first engine work and when the car started smooth as butter I was so proud on myself. But now I am getting this P3190.

    I will try new MAF sensor, it does not cost much and to exlude this from possible causes is good, even if it does not fix it.

    Just hope I did not make any serious damage to the car driving it for so long with exhaust leak.

    New MAF sensor installed, no change. I get 10s that seems running, than car shuts down. But I can say, that there were extensive smell of gasoline when trying to startup.

    Thing it might be defective crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor, not telling right ignition timing. Would it not trigger any related code, like P0340 or P0385? I got just P3190...
    Spark plugs were full of unburned debre, but I cleaned them with sonic cleaner and gasoline.
    Any thots on that?

    PriusChamper, you did mention bad gas, I did however put STP injector cleaner in last tank, about 50km before that happened. Coul this be the cause?

    Yes, EGR cleaned and also the cooler.
    I might take another look into it, becouse that was befor I drive the car with exaust leak and might be dirty from unburned fuel.
    You thing it can get clought agter 2000km running rich?

    Kinda doubt it. Just checking the pipe (between EGR valve and intake manifold) is relatively easy and gives you some idea of the EGR valve/cooler condition.

    I did take off the pipe and it is black drty, like I would newer clean it. Aslo smell of gasoline, wich confirm running rich. upload_2023-6-18_12-44-31.jpeg
    I am taking EGR out, maybe even intake manifold.

    But do you thing cloged EGR could cause P3190? Or if valve is stuck opened?

    The EGR pipe looks only slightly sooty, not bad.

    Looked up P3190, indicates engine running poorly. Might be EGR clog, but not conclusive.

    EGR cleaned, not so drty as expected, I really doubt it was the couse for P3190.

    But I notice all intake parts smell of gasoline. Also take off MAP sensor (sensor is new) and it was covered in oil. Also pool of oil in intake manifold, all smell of gasoline.

    You can thank PCV design for that; a good Oil Catch Can will help, some.

    I’ve got two Moroso 85474 in series, and still gets a little oily, though a lot less.
