Why is #1 needed? Didn't the old Prius Prime have enough EV range to cover your daily use? For a second car, Level 1 should be plenty.

Now, with two plug ins you might need to upgrade service for them anyway.

I thought Tesla had no L1 charging option? The Tesla home charger Gen3 is an L2 charger requiring a dedicated 240v circuit. Can M3 charge at 120v with an adaptor of some sort? Otherwise, staying with L1 charging for the foreseeable future is my plan, even if I buy a Bolt which I believe can do the L1 trickle charging.

My Model 3 came with a portable EVSE that is dual voltage. I soon bought all of the plug options ranging from 110 VAC to 240 VAC and 6-32 amps. I've used them all though one was only used camping out an RV park.

BTW, I used my Tesla to test a dual-voltage, portable EVSE for her BMW i3-REx.

You are unaware of the beauty of Tesla's NACS EVSE? Let me enlighten you.

Ever get a phone charger or other appliance that came with multiple plugs, and you snapped in the one that fit your local outlet? The Tesla Mobile Connector is like that. Instead of different plugs for different countries, there are adapters for most(all?) the standard NEMA outlets in the US. From the common 15amp outlet to the one for RVs. Dryer in the garage? Pick up that adapter instead of a separate EVSE wired with that plug.
    https://shop.tesla.com/product/gen-2-nema-adapters

If you already have an EVSE, Tesla has a J1772 to NACS adapter to use it and other public chargers. I have no idea if Tesla ships one with the car these days. You used to get one, and the included mobile connector had the 5-15 and 14-50 adapters.

That's great to know. Thank you for enlightening me. LoL As you can tell, I have very little knowledge of the car. For one thing, we don't have a single Tesla shop in my state. So I have never seen the car first hand.

Then I can reduce the potential cost by $10k. But the car is still almost $10k higher than my budget, even at said article's price of $22,830 which I know for sure I can get.

All other concerns on hidden costs still apply. I will keep looking for a base priced Bolt EV.

As @Salamander_King explained, CVRP for most people, including me, is $2,000. Maximum federal tax credit is $7,500. So, the total credits are $9,500. However, I cannot qualify for more than about $6,000 of the federal tax credit.

I just configured one and it is $43,380 not including TTL. I only added the black color and mobile connector.

So, for me, it is about $34,880 not including TTL. That is about $2,000 more than a Prius Prime SE PHEV, and $12,000 more than what the article claims. White is for some reason the only color option included in the price in Southern California, and it is $1,500 less than black.

Note that for Prius Prime PHEV, CVRP is $1,000 and there is no federal tax credit.

It is also funny that the article assumes that you can qualify for the CVRP low-income tier simultaneously with the full $7,500 federal tax credit. ;) So, yes, it is a lot of fake news as it is the norm in human communications today. :(

The article is very clear, for people that qualify, and live in the right area of Southern California, the amount of rebates is substantial..
It didn’t say Gokhan, or Salamander_King will get all possible rebates, it just says that if someone qualifies for all rebates, here is the lowest price you could get.

Was Tesla advertising the use of all these credits, or was it just the writer of this independent article? I've seen car dealers include every possible incentive in the advertised price, even though it was impossible to get them all.

Tesla has charged extra for colors besides the base since the Model S was released. It's white now, but was once black. $1500 is high, but not unheard of.

The fact that I can buy a model 3 in blue for under 30k including tax and destination fee is nothing short of amazing.
Then I could trade in my pip and pay less than 20k and be like bob w, and claim it’s the lowest operational cost of any vehicle :p

of course, I’d have to import my kWh from some place cheap

You could do like I did in the Leaf and try to charge at free charging stations as much as possible.

If there's a solar incentive that could be a possibility.

Buy a 2023 Prius Prime along with a Model 3 and use the AC 120-V, 1,500-W outlet as a Level-1 charger?

Got this Tesla offer in my e-mail:

Everyone Gets More With Loot Box

Share your referral link with friends and family by June 30 to unlock more Loot Box credits than ever before. You can redeem your credits for awards like Supercharging miles, software upgrades and more.

Those you refer will receive the following benefits for orders placed before June 30.

    Model S, Model X
$1,000 off, three months of Full Self-Driving Capability

    Model 3, Model Y
    1,500 Loot Box credits

Model 3 starts at $32,740 and Model Y starts at $39,990 after the $7,500 federal tax credit for eligible buyers.

As a general rule of thumb, the last 2-3 weeks of each quarter sees exceptionally good deals from Tesla.
