Let me just say that Denver’s crime problem is real, not just sensationalized news. I have a few cars and a giant van I sometimes sleep in or hang out in. One night I hear my Prius doors open and close and I caught a young kid in the drivers seat. Without weapon in hand I chased him off. The following night I hear a car slow behind my van and caught a guy underneath my car. I have no reason to connect the two occurrences.
A few days later I leave for work to find my car sounds like a Harley. I checked to make sure the cat was there, but what I saw was my white painted resonator. The thieves were so meticulous as to only take the two cats and leave the spring bolts behind. I’ve been driving the car like that ever since but I need to either sell it or bolt on an aftermarket.
Anyone know if any ebay source with CARB converters? Any issues shipping into Colorado?

thanks in advance for the help.

Ps I’m wondering if there is newer technology to bypass the key chip system because Wth was that first kid doing trying to steal a Prius? Maybe he was just doing drugs in there but something tells me he was trying to take the car (his foot being on the brake pedal). Neighbors have also had packages taken from their porch and their ring cameras have just blank spots during that time (something I know is perfectly possible with a flipper zero device).

Yup the flipper jams the Ring signal.....prevents recording.also grabs tap to pay from readers in Wal-mart they just stand behind the wall closest to self check out and scan all the time.. Crime rings in Denver are HUGE. Gotta feed that drug habit. Sorry man. DO you have comprehensive insurance? If not you are out $1,700 for a new OEM CAT. Next time have weapon in hand. Or at least put a target from your last range trip in the window. I used to put a sign on the dash telling people that If I caught them I WILL defend my property ...then call 911 to ID the suspect.

When that happens, be sure to have your legal counsel post here so that we know when to watch your perp walk. I don't recall CO as being a place where average citizens can generally use such force to defend mere property. Such allowance that I've heard about is mostly in place(s) that used to be their own independent Republic. And even then, only under limited circumstances.

Don't forget about civil rights and women's rights and the rights of LGBTQ and Liberals in general... We've done so much to destroy all that is good and virtuous of those bible loving, cocaine snorting white collar crime Republicans that make all their money by stealing it or indirectly killing for it.

As someone who's used drugs since the '50s and experimental circumstances and not. I can assure you the legalization of marijuana has not shot the crime rate up people using pot generally speaking aren't out really committing crimes other than driving high in the McDonald's drive-thru and getting hit by drunks and Teslas so nothing to do with them at all per se. But I love that equation absolutely weed has shot the crime rate up into oblivion I smile every time I think about things like that It's so funny out here where I live and crime is almost non-existent It has to be imported here and I'm only 6 minutes outside of a small city or township the criminals have to jump in a big van and car with tools and stuff to come out here to commit crimes and then when they get out here they start seeing wildlife and things they really haven't seen before and instantly it's time to go. We have a black bear population that starting to run ramping around so is your climbing under my old nice person Prius something may grab your leg in the middle of the night and start gnawing away at it and it'll have nothing to do with law enforcement more like population control as it should be.

Sorry to steer this back on course, you can get aftermarket units that will work fine. I can recommend the walker line, CARB approved and a direct bolt in. Chances are you will need the oxygen sensor too, get one with the plug not a universal one that needs to be wired. Get all the hardware and gaskets, and if the resonator is crusty this is a good time to fix everything. A few years ago the whole bill was about 600, and not a problem since. For safety sake use jack stands when under the car and celebrate with a joint after not before the work!

There are no CARB approved Prius catalytic converters made by Walker. Magnaflow is the only manufacturer that has CARB compliant catalytic converters.

Currently, Magnaflow has the Prius CARB compliant aftermarket cornered. They charge hundreds more than the OEM Toyota.

As others enter market, the price will likely go down as time goes by.

I had a magnaflow shipped to my friend in Texas and then he sent it to me in California in 2016 when there was no compliment cats for this state. The gas station I go to hasn't looked under the car in 4 smog tests.

The smog test place I go to definitely checks the cat. The last visit, after a cat shield was installed, he couldn't use his mirror on a stick and instead took a bunch of pictures with his phone while moving it around under the car, then looked through them until he found one which showed what he wanted. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Absolutely not because of weed. I too am a lifelong indulger of all substances. It’s the dramatic increase in population from out of state that caused this. When I was 17 I moved to CO and the first thing I noticed was there was NO crime, like none. Now that has changed, mostly just for Denver.

When something bad happens in CO and makes the national news it seems like at least half the time it went down in Aurora. Not sure if you are counting that as "Denver".

Wen I got out in the county I noticed the crime drop.. seems no one wants to come out with animals and snakes etc . I live out here so the only time they going to get my cars when I drive into town to I don't know do whatever go to AutoZone and Walmart and what have you and then it's sitting in huge parking lots with cameras so I guess that was the right move.

As an aside, i replaced the cat with a 70$ aftermarket from ebay. No welding necessary as it was a direct fit to the cut they made. Sounds infinitely better, no DTC yet, i think itll actually pass emissions. Which begs the question , Wth is with the 2500$ oem replacement cats? the entire job took 15 min, and thats including a smoke break.

The absolute amount of crime drops, the crime rate normalized for population, maybe not. Odds of getting hit by a drunk driver are higher where there are more drivers, odds the next oncoming car is driven by a drunk might actually be higher in the countryside, absolute risk is the product of the number of drivers and the odds of any driver being drunk. Odds of seeing a traffic sign shot full of holes? Much higher in the country than in the city. (OK, it isn't much of a crime, but it's still a crime.) As I understand it the odds of death from a gunshot are actually higher in the countryside than in the city, but in the former more of those deaths are self inflicted.

One might think that the highest murder rates in CA would be in LA and San Francisco, which get a lot of bad press. Nope, Stockton is the place to go in this state if you want the best odds of having somebody else cast off your mortal coil. Fresno, Bakersfield, and Sacramento are all more dangerous than LA.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate

Numbers like this are a lot less informative than they seem. If you don't live in a gang infested slum the big cities are much safer than they appear in a table like the one above. The 4 US cities with the highest rates of auto theft are Albuquerque, Oakland, Detroit, and Portland (OR). There are some similarities between Oakland and Detroit, but Portland and Albuquerque???

There are pluses and minuses to everything. I love driving in the countryside, it is peaceful, scenic, and there isn't much traffic (compared to LA). On the other hand, if I were to have a serious wreck I would much rather do so in a major city than on a rural highway - because odds of surviving it depend on proximity of medical care.
