Thank you in advance for anyone that is taking the time to read this.

I have a 2007 Prius (Navigation Edition) First having problems when turning on dash: would not turm on. I went to youtube. And tried advice about flickering beams 3 times and going to the menu setting by holding down display. This worked. But now this isnt working.

Along with dash not coming on. The car does not turn off. For the car to turn off I have press and hold power button. Yet the display screen stays on.

I have taken out the 12v battery. But autozone said its 100% /good/ holding a charge.

Once in a blue moon the dash turns on(so i know it works) works for a day and then back to square one.

Another problem i have encountered with this car is that the previous owner put led aftermarket bulbs for headlights. I constantly have to flick the beams on and off because they turn off at night. So annoying. Maybe this has something to do with the electrical and the dash. Maybe i need to get new cells for the hybrid battery.

Im at a lost. Since my dash doesnt turn on. I have neen stranded on the free way. Since my car doesnt turn off. It drains the gas and the battery and i cant tell how much gas i have

    Thank you for your help.

    Welcome to PriusChat.

The video didn't also advise on how to fix the problem, or even explain the underlying cause?

You can DIY replace the capacitors or go with a lifetime warranty from : Prius Speedometer Replacement

    FYI : you're moderated until you've posted 5 times.

You describe a common problem on Gen2 Prius- a failing capacitor on the Combination Meter (speedo) circuit board.

If you (or someone you know) has decent soldering skills you can read this thread and DIY replace the bad capacitor.

Or you can pull the CM and get it repaired or swapped by TexasHybridBatteries.

But you should be able to still drive your car You just can't see your gas gauge and speedometer I was driving like this about 2 years keep it full and let it rip to turn it off Yes you have to hold the button sometimes for a long time for everything to power down and you got to make sure you are actually powered down your remote can help you The nav edition you should be SKS remote silverback. I've changed my dash out three times with a high mileage real piece of crap car unit that worked a while and then started doing the same thing. I got one out of a 93,000 mi old lady car that it had everything possible done to it at the Toyota dealer for that 93,000 miles same thing. I still have installed the 93,000 mi unit and for the most part it works flawlessly every so often I get in the car I can almost tell when it's going to happen and I just two button turn it off and back on again and the display lights right up gas gauge and mileage and everything just like I turned it off.
