So who do we in the US have as current leading presidential candidates. One ignorant narcissist liable to be on trial or convicted, one Leo influenced right wing zealot that is a younger authoritarian power hungry clone of the first, and a 80 year old experienced doing his best but who stumbles and stutters.

The only thing is the statement is not correct. All presidents are on the job from inauguration to inauguration. This one and the last one both maintained their jobs through medical procedures. Good answer she gave, but gives validity to the statement and it has none. A lot of presidents have been golfers except this current one. Still on the job all the time day and night. So the question following the statement is irrelevant because he didn’t take off work after a root canal.

There was that news item about the previous POTUS opting for an unsedated colonoscopy, so as not to delegate any authority even for a brief span of time.

Interestingly, in some parts of the world, it seems not unusual to prefer unsedated:

Sedation always carries some risk, and depending on insurance, be a big bill.

 

I've had both ways. Main thing I didn't like about sedated was having to impose on someone to drive me there, and drive me back, which had to wait until after I came to, and then I was still kind of foggy for a bit longer.

Unsedated, I didn't have to impose on anybody, and when the procedure was over, I could hop off the table and drive to work.

Also (maybe this belongs in the You Know You're an Engineer thread?), watching on the monitor was interesting. One of the assisting techs seemed to enjoy the tour-bus-guide role, pointing stuff out to me. Seemed like something they didn't often get to do.

Codes? Did you say codes? Could be the codes got flushed down that same toilet along with other very important memos he was supposed to have read, but couldn't have time for lest he'd lose tweeting time. Or they're in another cardboard box, somewhere?

 

I don’t think the codes guy actually goes into the bathroom and stands by while a president does his human thing. But codes guy always follows president and vp wherever they go, even if say running down stairs for their life, there is the code case behind. Not enough is known about this topic or maybe it’s on the internet. Do they knock on the bathroom door and say there is an incoming disaster, can you come out here in the hall to access the codes please?

 

But we do know that P46 did NOT maintain control of his job during at least one medical procedure, but instead temporarily handed over control to the VP. As did several other modern presidents during similar and some other medical procedures.

Apparently P45 didn't trust his VP, or anyone, to do the same.

I bet they probably do have intercoms, like the kind in 1957. I don’t think they announce incoming nukes into the bathroom though. Someone’s got to run in there no matter what.
Maybe its a 1980’s intercom in a telephone beside the commode. I think there is something like that on the oval office desk.
