thx radiospank. i found some japan ebay sellers listing for $100 for the pair. ill probably go the OEM route too, even though i think the aftermarket ones might have a better design. I wish Toyota would supply new nuts though with the 2-pair kit. seem a bit odd to not give you those for such an expensive part and considering the aftermarket guys do, and these nuts are often rusty.

Just went through this recently and ordered via Amayama. Here’s the break down of prices and I got new oem nuts too.

thats a great price! i paid 230 from the dealer, but be careful with ebay sellers, i've gotten fake parts from them before. Actually, i won't but off ebay or amazon for that matter unless it's from amazon as the seller or the manufacturer like aisin, or other japanese brands etc.

Hey Noah! Thx for the links and screenshots. I just bit off on the identical order from amayama today. This will get me genuine OEM parts for about $60 more total. Thats worth it to me. I also took a look at the front swaybar bushings and they seemed pretty intact and in good order still. So I'm going to skip those. For folks on the fence about the seller, amayama is selling on ebay and has a 100% positive rating over 1957 orders. I think they can be trusted. I purchased directly from their website though. Here is what i bought. Haven't gotten it yet so i cannot say 100% that i ordered the correct thing. but it looks good! The only downside is about a 2-week delivery but its likely to get here sooner.

By the way, my P2010 (150k miles) sway bars are still in good working order, but the rubber boots had cracked and grease was creeping out in moderate amounts. This is why I'm replacing. I think the car still drives well. Driving outside of the USA's good 'ole salt belt definitely helps extend the life of your car.

I just did a search on amayama, seems they are legit and have been operating for quite some time, however they are based in Japan so shipping times will be much longer than anything in the states, also you will have to pay the import duties which imo is why they charge so little in comparison to a US seller. For instance blackhawkjapan has great prices on parts but they too are in Japan and you have to pay the import duties and wait long shipping times etc. just fyi

Import duties aren’t really a concern for personal use….

Just replaced the front sway bar end links on our 2011 with 130K miles on it.

Worn away rubber boots were pointed out to me at annual safety inspection. Said it has to be replaced ASAP, did them the same day with ones sourced from NAPA autoparts.

OEM links are aluminum alloy, replacement bars are coated steel. Not too worried about how long they'll last. Only planning on keeping the Prius another year or two, as the 3rd Gen is a ticking time bomb before major problems arise.

I am totally ignorant on such things, so you’re saying that you can order from Blackhawkjapan or amamaya, and not pay the import taxes duties etc.? Because it’s personal use? Never heard that before

I’m not sure if rules have changed. They may have, to be completely honest. I’m not 100% sure this is the right section even…

EDIT- It used to be, for example if your car needs 4 brakes, then the 5th piece would be tariffed. I got my axle from Amayama (for my Scion iQ) and didn’t pay a single cent, way back before COVID, probably during the Trump administration).

Looks like suspension system parts are mostly on the 20th page there, and the ones that aren't for tractors are generally subject to 2.5% under Normal Trade Relations, can be free under some special agreements, and might be subject to 25% if coming from Cuba, North Korea, Russia, or Belarus.

This stuff makes me go crosseyed.

This is a video that I just uploaded to my YouTube channel, TheToolHall. I installed the Moog sway bar links on my 2007 Toyota Prius.
