You are correct. I have the black plate holder in my hatch.

The dealership installed the front black license plate mount on my Prius prior to delivery - without asking of course which is annoying because I would have told them not to. I removed the mount which left 2 small screw holes in the factory bump out, but they're not noticeable fortunately. This is what it looked like when I picked it up before I removed the black mount. I also wish Toyota didn't include the factory bump out but it appears to not be an option.

    :)
That’s pretty obnoxious of them to think this would be acceptable. Maybe if they cut you a check for advertising.

You could sell photos of this beautiful car. :)

Agreed it's very annoying, and my guess is they just do it automatically since a front plate is "required" in Colorado even though we don't run them on our cars. And thank you! My camera roll is essentially all cars, dogs, and the occasional pic of us haha!

That helps explain it. What are you using to take your photos? Of course the Colorado landscape helps. Gorgeous!

Well, I'm seeing your problem ... you bought at Corwin.

Sorry, I'm sort of kidding. Corwin is based in Fargo, and their Fargo Toyota dealership was the one I used for many years. But two bad experiences in a short period made me switch to a different dealership. First, a $5000 markup on hybrids plus a $1500 deposit just to get on the waiting list pushed me towards finding an MSRP dealership. Second, apparently it's now Corwin policy to not search part numbers for you. I went in just to find which filters I was going to need because the Toyota parts website was a dumpster fire at the time, and the parts guy said he couldn't give them to me. He'd order them, but wouldn't give the number.

If I'm a dealership in the Age of the Internet, I'm doing EVERYTHING in my power to improve the personal experience. These rude, manipulative business models will go the way of the dinosaur.

Yep, the bump is under there. For some reason I thought the black mount had a hole on the side that let me look through and see open area, but I guess I'm just getting old and my memory is crap. lol

I just use my Iphone actually - I have a 12 Pro and it takes amazing pics especially when using portrait mode.

I have actually never used Corwin before and my experience was fine. I had to pay a bit of a markup, but in fairness it was pretty easy and fast. I called about the Prius, told them I wanted it, showed up the next day, wrote a check and was in and out in an hour (and they encouraged me to bring my dog inside which was nice haha). The car wasn't on the lot yet and I was leaving that night on a trip, and they made it really easy for my wife to come pick it up the next week. I didn't get any paperwork with it and had to go back and forth for a couple of weeks to get it, but in the end everything worked out ok.

Re: looking up parts...my local dealer I've been buying parts from for over a decade recently did the same thing with parts and parts numbers which is super annoying. To be honest though, I have been buying nearly everything online lately because the prices are better and they arrive sooner.
