:) This coming Sunday, my wife and I will be giving our 2006 Super White Prius (option 8) the supreme test! We start off from Hershey, Pa and drive to Las Vegas, Nevada over a 5 day period. Stay in Las Vegas for 2 nights (USAF Reunion) and then drive to Phoenix, AZ to visit our son and his family. After our visit, jump in the Prius and drive back to Hershey over a 5 day period. Total estimated mileage is 5000 miles. I changed oil, filter, etc this week and will change it again upon return. Car was delivered on May 12 and currently has 3,200 miles on odometer.

I am planning on testing the mpg with and without the wheel rings. Will let you all know what my average mpg was.

Drive safely and take pictures across the country. They will come in handy when it's time to make the next Priuschat calendar.

    Well,

The Prius performed well over the 5,600 mile trip to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Graceland and return.

My wife had stuffed about 350 lbs of luggage (which we did not need) and I averaged 80 mph on the Southern Route (40). Worst 1 day stretch was 685 miles from Oklahoma City to Gallup, NM. I averaged 43 mpg, which I am happy about. The navigation system worked well taking us to local attractions each night we stayed over. Car has plenty of pep and got lots of stares. Saw a total of only 15 Prii during our trip.

Upon return we drove another 400 miles to attend an unexpected funeral.

Tomorrow, I have my 10K mile checkup. Only issue I am experiencing is the gas gauge taking about 35 seconds to show all the clicks after I fill an empty tank. I did a search on this topic and I think I am ready for the dealer tomorrow.

The Prius rules on road trips!
