After reading on here some, I decided to search the Performance Commanders site and found the gen 2 Prius is supported.

Basically, I envision electronic and mechanical options to make a gen2 ECO MODE and possibly hypermiling a little more simple using an add on device.

I haven't found an open source DIY method yet, though seems the mechanical ways might be easier to design and implement to the masses or those brave enough to attempt.

Anyways, to avoid the $299 expense and learn something new, seems like a DIY ECO MODE electronic adapter will be easy to make once the throttle connectors pins and signals specifications are known. The 6 wires on each gen 2 and gen 3 are still a mystery to me.

I was also wondering if there is a way to modify the throttle response of the gen 2 via Techstream.

The mechanical design seems easier for most with mechanical skill and simple tools I'm thinking. Just design the ECO MODE pedal mount plate to go behind the throttle mount section and just use the existing throttle mount two bolts if they're long enough. Then one can either use a longer pedal lever with a cam that possibly can also be adjusted so to position the larger lobe of the cam to have a later pedal position increased throttle response.

Seems cutting the stock throttle lever would get the stock pedal out of the way and the lever is sturdy enough to drill a hole through each side of the cut so to fashion a bracket for future reconnecting if required or wanted.

Could also possibly cut the stock throttle lever and extend the length alone.

For me, I find driving the 2013 in ECO MODE almost all the time and then switching to the 2006 is challenging to repeatably get used to feathering the 2006's pedal. A less responsive pedal would be great.

Figured I'd get the idea out to the World or this world for inspiration at the least.
