Be glad you don't have a Testla and 12V battery dies....

The battery is in the frunk and there is a emergency frunk unlock in the bumper using a 9V or 12V battery. It's only active if the 12V died or the doors are unlocked. Once the frunk is opened, you can boost the 12V as usual.

BTW, the car will tell you in advance that the 12V battery needs replacement soon. If you ignore it, it's your fault.

Right there is like a Prius or a million other cars. To the left of you on the door panel, where the hand will naturally go, a lever to pull. It should be required. The first time I gazed on my Prime’s door latch was yesterday because it was talked about. Other vehicle is the same way. Never look at it just get out of the car.

Wherever your door handle is, please use the Dutch reach to open your door, especially when parked by the side of the road.

Meanwhile the dog is chewing up the owners manual inside. Or is it on screen only?

What about a non sighted passenger?
I notice elevators have braille on or next to the buttons. Buttons they can find.

A printed manual is only pertinent the day it's printed. Tesla's user manual is continuously updated with each OTA update released. A printed copy becomes obsolete fast.

i'm test driving a model 3 tomorrow. in 50 years of driving, i've never had the 12v fail while i was locked in the car, and i would never lock anyone else or animals in it. so i'm not too chuffed

Today, going to the cottage, on a two way road, about to accelerate to pass a car, I instinctively pushed my head forward to counteract the acceleration of the Tesla but I was in the Prime, suffice to say my head didn't need to overcome any hard acceleration lol.

Your first acceleration in your test drive tomorrow might surprise you. Same for the first time you'll let go of the accelerator. You have to learn to feather it, but once you do, if you're like me, anything else than one pedal driving is annoying.

so if the battery dies and you use the emergency door release, you're bound to damage the window as well? that's kinda odd... now you need a new battery and new window(s).

One of the things I REALLY like about the Prime is how gradual the accelerator pedal is. You can push it a fair ways before you chirp the tires. We used to have a Sienna and I HATED how touchy the accelerator was. A very light touch was required and it was annoying, especially in snow or ice.

the tesla was an amazing machine. smooth, quiet (much quieter than my pip, and quieter than our hycam)
one pedal driving was a breeze after a few minutes (and it was set to full regen) i did aotomatically hit the brake a few times unnecessarily

screen was easy to operate, and you can see the speedo out the corner of your eye.

ride height and roofline were great. sun was blocked by the tinted roof (80 and sunny out)

mrs. b rode along, and she was more impressed than i was, which shocked me!

it had more buttons and switches than i thought, windows, drivers seat, D,R,N,P., blinkers.

good center console storage, perfect spot for two phones, plenty of trunk space.

door closings were a bit more metallic than a true luxury car, but at 42k i wouldn't call it a luxury price.

vision was very good compared to prius, wipers were set to auto and came on once for no reason.

no sales pitch, looked at the model y in the showroom, thanked the sales guy and left.

net to us would be 35k for the blue with white interior. including ttl. less 8k for pip trade = 27k out of pocket.
i just have to decide if it is worth it to putt around town and my 4,000 milres a year.

bolt looks unavailable, and 150 mile leaf is expensive.

You won't spin the tires of a Model 3. Traction control will stop it but being RWD, all the weight gets to the rear wheels and it just takes off.

If you prefer, there is a Chill mode where the car won't accelerate as fast. Since the latest update, you can toggle from Chill to Normal by simply pressing the left scroll wheel so if you need the power for some reason, it's just a button push away (if the button is configured that way).

No, you won't damage the windows or frame by opening them, but closing them might be an issue, if there is no power and you manually open them as they won't scroll down a bit.

Yes, but the hardware manual door releases don't change. Every Tesla model has interior front door releases. One or two models do not have rear door releases. Memorize the locations and the direction the release needs to be pulled.

If I compare my 2021 Model 3 to my 2017 Prius Prime, the Prius ride is more smooth with a softer suspension.

the ride was much better. smoother, quieter, and zero body roll. the seats were way more comfortable.

but the hycam is 10 years old, so i'll have a better impression when we get the 2024 in a few weeks.
i didn't even notice the low profile tires, took the potholes like a champ. much better cabin isolation.

honestly, i was not prepared to be so impressed, given all the negative nannies on the net.
and for mrs b to be so impressed when she loves her hycam so much was even more surprising.

one thing i didn't like was the trunk. the lid doesn't go up and over horizontally as much as the hycam, so the opening seemed smaller. the model y is much better, but another 10 grand.
funny thing is, with the tax credits, we would have paid a few thousand less for the model 3 than the hycam.
