I am a mail carrier, been using the Gen 2's for 12 years on the mail route, work great. I'm thinking bout upgrading but wondering if removing the center console is as easy on the Gen 4's vs Gen 2's.

My wife spilled a little coffee in her 2017 Prius cup holders and I found it quite easy to remove the entire center console, clean it up, and reinstall.

Was he a one-and-done poster? We seem to get quite a few of those, huh?

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. Must be some electrical connections(USB connection and 12V are on console) you can disconnect? Did center console run all the way under the shifter and park button?

My 2008 Prius is still running strong, but has 180k mailman miles on it, those are hard miles. I want to buy a gen 4(probably new, uses Prius prices have gotten out of hand), but you can't really disassemble prior to purchase, so got to make sure 100% it would work for my needs.

It looks like the shift knob is attached to the front dash and the center console is attached to the floor...

I preferr the gen2 center... Gonna look to replace the gen4 with a gen2... Ha

    Ok,
Thank you to the poster who uploaded the instructions to unsnap the cup holders and back panel to get to the 6 10mm screws that hold the gen4 in place.

I removed the 4th Gen center arm rest console ( did not like the smaller cup holders and how they removed, relocated the cup holders to the doors and rear folding arm rest ..)
So unbolted the 4th gen, bought a used 2nd gen and it fits with 1/2 inch to the shift knob...
Some diy modifications required... Had to drill and use self tapping screws to hold down the gen2 console in the back.... And er cut out the 12v and USB from the gen4 console and left in the sliding storage shelf of the gen2... Of course no hack like this is complete without T-Taps for hooking up the gen2 12v socket from the gen4 harness... White wire with black strip is the same in both... Only 2 wires for the 12v so the other wire was obvious.... Ha.
