We are going camping in three weeks and our regular camp rig is out of service. We want to install a roof rack on our 2013 Prius to carry some gear. But after searching the web for an hour and a half I am very worried about spending a lot of money and possibly getting something that is poorly made or doesn't fit. I would prefer a Yakima or Thule rack, but the cost for a new set-up is nuts (In the realm of $700 before tax and shipping!). I have been on e-bay looking for a used system, but it seems the sellers prefer to list the part names and numbers rather than what it's compatible with.

Please let me know what you are using so I can make an informed decision. Thanks!

there was a time I did use the thule on my prius but the MPG hit was more than I wanted to bear, that was with the basket and an extension in the middle. Plus, carrying a spare up top of the setup wasn't ideal for me.

I’ve used an old Yakima rack (q towers and q clip) on mine. The mpg hit is real.

however if you look on Fb marketplace, you’ll be able to find everything used for cheap. Just need 4 q towers, 4 clips and round bars for a basic set up. In my area, you could piece it together for about 150-200
