Hi there, I am having an issue with my combination meter, or so I think. I was having the normal blackout issue where everything was gone, I would reset it and it would work just fine for a bit then have to reset, ect. After a while it gave out completely and no longer would come back on even if I disconnected the positive cable on the battery. I need to know how much fuel I have but without the dash lights there is no way for me to know. I bought a new combination meter from ebay with a lifetime warranty for around $100. I installed it and everything was great, until the next morning. I started to car and I had dash light icons like tire pressure and the green ready and such but no speedometer or fuel gauge. I am think it might be the 12v battery, it’s older and when i checked the voltage it read 11.9v. Any ideas on what else could be causing this issue? P.S. the old combination meter would do the same thing every so often where the dash light icons would come on but no speedometer or fuel gauge. The old one would also completely black out occasionally with no icons either. The new one hasn’t completely blacked out, with no icons.

It will be 3 years old in December! The previous owner did not drive it a lot and often had it sitting for long periods of time without use tho.

if it's making the car 'ready' i suppose it isn't the problem. and when the car is ready, you're getting inverter power.
have you asked the ebay seller their thoughts?

you might want to talk with texashybrids.com, they rebuild meters and might better understand your symptoms
