I unhooked the negative side of my starting battery to diagnose a separate issue. When I reconnected it the head unit is saying "Insert map DVD". The original map DVD is inserted. Please help. I have no audio, Backup camera, or Bluetooth for my phone. I have had this issue before but it seemed to correct itself.

Did you try just pressing the start button twice without using the brake pedal?

The unit should go through a short boot and then be fine after that.

Toyotas track record for alert messages that make any sense is pretty abysmal.

I've had that happen a few times. When it starts popping that false warning, there isn't anything one can do to remove the DVD. The usual control to eject the map DVD does not work at that point.

For me, the warning would intermittently go away, and then return. So I waited until it was gone, ejected and cleaned the disc of dust, and then put it back in. The message has not yet returned, but I will be keeping meticulously preserved copies of the map disc on hand just in case I lose this one to contamination.

Thank you for sharing. My disc will eject and load, the car just doesn't recognize it. I bought a new disc from eBay and still get the same result. I will try blowing out the unit.
