I know, probably a silly question, but I'm confused and yes...inpatient. I have an 07 pkg #6 on the way and want SIRIUS. I see it listed as an accessory but is this a dealer installed item? Or is it already installed and all I have to do is activate? Will this delay delivery? Haven't had the chance to contact the dealer yet.

My understanding is that this is a dealer and/or distributor installed item.
The parts are Toyota parts, but they do not come standard in any Prius....you have
to request it and then either the Distributor or Dealer installs the Tuner & Fit Kit.
Usually the Dealer will throw in some kind of "bonus" where they waive activation
and the first few months of service fees.
Search this site to see what others are paying for this option. I'd suggest that you negotiate
with your sales person to have this item added for free if you're paying full sticker price for the car.

    Good Luck!

Well...I just talked to my salesperson and he tells me that SIRIUS is not an option as of yet. That I can only get XM. Then I called another dealer and they told me that as long as they get to the car before it reaches port, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not sure who to believe here. Anyone have any suggestions? How about a number to SET? I'd call them direct if I had a number...

A dealer I spoke with told me that it would be better to just get a separate SIRIUS unit to plug into the AUX port. Would be much cheaper too. I plan to go that route.

Well, I took the plunge and went with the SiriusPrius package from Factory Interactive. I researced the install difficulty on PC and decided to go for it. I hope the differences between the 06 and 07 don't cause any glitches. Wish me luck!

I was at the local Toyota parts department today. The Sirius parts will be available in December and it's the same price for the kit as it is for XM. He also said you could do it in the '06 Prius as well.

I emailed Toyota and asked about Sirius (I just bought an '07 Prius, but wanted to listen to Howard Stern as opposed to Oprah & Friends). I don't want to do any mods, because I'm not the technically inclined, and the email I received stated "early 2007" for Sirius parts.

I just purchased the add on sold by Vaistech.com . I got tired of hearing from Lexus and Toyota that the sirius kit is on it's way. They have been saying this for 18 months. I am very happy with the unit from Vaistech.com The fuctionality is "top notch" to quote Judge Smails from Caddyshack. :D

If there are any Penske dealerships near you, you might want to try there. In Los Angeles, they gave me a free Sirius Satellite radio along with a 10 month free subscritption. Penske sits on the board of directors for Sirius, hence the great deal.

 Hmmm, that's interesting. I'm assuming this is not a Sirius receiver that works through the Prius navigation system? That is, it doesn't display the information on the screen like the Toyota version does, right?

I just emailed Toyota, because I too am inpatiently waiting for SIRIUS. They didn't give any dates nor did they even hint that it was coming out in 2007. I'm guessing it's probably not going to be available for a while.

My dealer though is going to give me the Sportster Replay (?) or something like that, as SIRIUS was part of my purchase deal. The idiot sales person didn't know SIRIUS was not available for the 07 Prius.

I'm also very disappointed that the Service Dept. is unaware of a better solution than what they are giving me.

I believe the Sirius receiver in my car is a Pioneer unit. I purchased my Prius at Westbury Toyota, a Pensky dealership. They installed the unit in my car free of charge along with a 9 month Sirius subscription. They also installed a Sigma antenna.

This was an inside mount antenna, very large and ugly. I removed it, sold it on Ebay and put a mag mount antenna under the shark fin.

The Pioneer unit integrates perfectly with the MFD except for the titles and artists truncating at 10 characters.

There a some units available at Best Buy that will work in the Prius. You have to buy a tuner and an interface box. If I remember correctly, the cost of both units and the cabling is around $250.00. Both can be buried under the dash or in the side cowl next to the glove box. The advantage of the Pioneer unit is that it's a one piece solution.
