Picking up Prius in a few days, what should I look for before signing the paperwork?

Blizzard: That is one sweet looking ride! I was secretly hoping I'd be offered a red "leftover"! Silver wasn't a bad consolation prize though.

The only slight benefit to the rotten NYC traffic is you get to tinker with the Traffic Jam Assist mode. It is kinda cool the few times it's engaged for me. It's been three weeks now and I still have my foot primed on the brake pedal. I'll need some more time to build up trust in the DRCC thing.

    Thank you Sir, appreciate it!

I most definitely did tinker with the settings on that horrendous drive home. Haha. So neat when all the different features are engaged, it’s really amazing. The lane keep assist and traffic jam assist, proximity, cruise control all work near flawlessly together. So much better than the Gen4 that I used to have. EV mode is freakishly fun. I tried charge mode a couple times, and was able to gain significant battery power on the freeway (takes a while but does work), obviously at the cost of actual mpg’s, but it gave me enough to get home on EV once I got off the freeway a few miles from my house.

I cannot figure out B mode though? No matter what it would only go on level one. My salesman said just to pull the shifter back in B and it would switch, but it never did. Obviously I need to read the manual tomorrow. Just kinda winged it on the way home. I am very happy with the new Prime overall though for sure. Trunk/hatch space does seem a little cramped, hopefully I will be able to fit my 29er EMTB back there maybe with the front wheel taken off since no one makes a hitch for my bike rack yet.

Like the color; saw almost an identical one at my dealer when I picked up my LE!

Blizzard: For B mode, the only way I know to change it is buried in the menus on the screen behind the wheel, so clearly not intended to be something you change frequently. I tried something more aggressive than the default "one chevron" setting and it seemed more aggressive breaking than I wanted, but with hindsight, I now believe I happened to try it at the same time the Proactive Driving Assist was engaging, so need to try it again sometime. Level 1 seems to match what my Gen1 did.

HAVE FUN! Hopefully you have already forgotten the wait! :)

Nice to hear from another Gen1 owner! After 20 years and 220,000 miles the Gen5 is replacing it. I had it for fully half my driving years! I'm getting it cleaned up to gift to a nephew. In the General forum I posted my pic of all three Prii.

In 2009 I was offered nearly as much as I had paid for her, and took the money since we were months away from the end of the battery warranty. We had a nearly new Accord, and it seemed silly to have 3 cars for 2 people. The buyer wrecked her on a rouind about about a year after he bought it. Sigh. I would still be driving her otherwise. That was a really reliable car, and I regretted selling it until I got the 2012 at the beginning of that year. It is always a pleasure to see one of the gen 1's out and about though.
