I love the connection between my IPhone 13 and my 2023 XLE, but the wireless charging feature doesn’t seem to work no matter what I do. It starts out blinking 3 times (manual says phone placed incorrectly or other error). My iPhone is in an otter box so I thought maybe it was too thick even though other wireless chargers have worked. But even out of the case the best I can ever do even with lots of moving the phone forward and back in the slot is a green light and the phone never shows as charging. Has anyone else had a similar experience and been able to get the charger to work?
I've had the same experience with an iPhone 14 pro in an Apple Clear Magsafe case. I now run a black charging cable from the USB-C port in the console box along one of the grooves to the phone slot. It's black to be almost invisible against the black plastic.
I had an Otter Box Defender on my iPhone 12 Max Pro and it would not charge, all I got was the flashing amber light. I took it out of the case and it charged right up. Not wanting to go without a case, I now use a case by BodyGuardz and it charges fine (steady amber).
I have a UAG real carbon case on my 13 Pro Max. The light on the charger will show orange but the lightening bolt won’t show up on my phone with the case on in the wireless charger. On my long drive back from the dealer I simply popped off the case slid the phone in and it worked perfectly fine. Yeah the phone got warm but not dangerously hot like some people are saying. Not a fast charger but it def charged up the phone and ran apple car play for a couple hundred miles no issue. FYI, make sure you push the tiny charger on button in the front of the phone slot and make sure the led turns green. If not no charging no matter what you do.
I’m going to try a defender with MagSafe. If it works, great! If not, I’ll return it for a refund and take my phone out of my old cover when I want to charge. May be a hassle but I will work !!
I'm having the same issue with my 13 Pro Max in a MagSafe compatible case from Casetify. I have tried 3 other slim-style cases with no luck. My sister's 12 Pro charges fine in a cheap Amazon case (I ordered the exact same one and it didnt work on mine) and my boyfriend's Galaxy S23 charges through an Otterbox defender. What gives? I reported my issue to Apple, should I report it to the dealer as well?
Just realized it literally takes less than a few seconds to pop off my UAG real carbon case and it charges perfect every time. So that’s what I will be doing and using the wireless slot charger if I’m commuting or on a road trip. Will prob still pick up a USB - C Cable for faster charging but the slot charger is convenient and I found on my 1.45 hr drive the other day I gained roughly 20-25% battery. Phone was warm not hot. Edit: I used to only use Otterbox defender cases and those beasts would be a solid no for just poppin them off unless a looong road trip as they are a total pain in the butt to remove.
Same here because I like carrying my iPhone Pro Max in my back pocket. I could sit on that all day and it wouldn't break. It would charge up in my F 150 but it would be almost too hot to handle because of the case. Wouldn't charge at all in the Prime. Switching to the Bodyguardz did the trick. It warms up but doesn't get overly hot.
I have a Galaxy Z Fold 3, and a Razer Phone 2. I've tried it with both phones. the RP2 never works with it, and the Fold 3 only works sometimes. 4800 miles in and I've yet to find any consistent way to get my Fold 3 to charge from it. This is annoying because it's one of the features I looked forward to having with the XLE.
I got the Bodyguardz Ace Pro per HacksawMike and it does charge a lot better. It will still still cause the light to flash on occasion but it works most of the time. Much better than the other three cases I tried. Thank you @HacksawMark
I was having the same problem charging my iPhone 13 Mini wirelessly in my 2023 Prius Prime. It would not charge with or without the case. Today I tried again put placed the phone as far right as possible up against the right wall when placing it in the charger and it worked! It actually worked with the case. Try loading the phone to the right fully against the right wall. FYI: the phone does get a bit warm when charging
Strangely, my wireless charger started working with the case on this morning. I haven't actually tried it for a while, and had just been plugging it in. But my old, original case was in bad shape, so I replaced it with an identical case (the apple leather case), and it suddenly worked. I also tried a skinny otter box case as well, but it didn't work with that case either. While I am happy that it now works, I'll probably still just use the cable for any drive longer than a quick trip to the store, since it still gets hot.
You must turn on QI charger first (Green light) and then put phone in charging slot to force adjustment of QI charger. It will move charging coil upward, downward, frontward or rearward for this newly introduced phone. From included Manual: Operation sounds When the power supply is turned on, while searching for the portable device a sound will be produced, however this is not a malfunction.
