I have a 2012 Prius that I bought at the beginning of the year , it was at 58,000. I drive a lot so I am now at 78,000 miles. Car has driven like a dream the entire time. I had driven my car to work like normal , but when I left and started my car I was met with a bunch of lights. Currently says Check Hybrid System , check engine light is on, my traction light is on, the master indicator, as well as the break system exclamation point light. The car starts and can drive . I drove it off home and while it drives it has trouble accelerating, you can tell it’s trying really hard, the breaks work but they feel a little “off” I can still stop but I felt like it was taking me longer to stop then normal. My car hasn’t been making any sounds, showing any signs of gas mileage issues or ANYTHING before I turned it on today. I bought my car from Carmax and have Max Care with them and will make an appointment in the morning. Unfortunately max care doesn’t cover anything HV battery related so I’m so worried it’s the battery even though I feel like it shouldn’t be with having less than 100,000 miles. Any thoughts? I don’t have a code reader but I’m sure I can borrow one from somewhere. Anything I should tell Carmax to look for ?

Typically a bad brake booster / brake by wire system. The codes on the system tell the story.

I had somewhat similar symptoms, (work-to-rule brakes, Check Hybrid System warning, brake and traction control warning lights), and it was apparently due to my Scangauge II being constantly connected to OBD port.

dealership mechanic had Techstream connected, noted his connection was intermittent, and suggested I try not using the SG for a while. Did that, problem never arose again.

if you do have something steady connected to OBD, worth a try.

    Translation:
This could be caused just by a weak 12 V battery.
Either the battery itself or from having something left ON
that you are not aware of.

A year ago, I had the identical OBD2 issue (believe it was an intermittent plug connection) drive a holiday display on the dash. Removing it and re-installing it cleared them all.

Hi y’all I’m coming back to this because I I ran a code reader on the vehicle.

I got P0A94 which is pointing to possible inverter issues ?

I have read some old posts on here saying that there is warranty on the inverter that was increased to 15 years. Is this true ? I have an appointment with the dealership on Monday.

I just replaced my HV battery on my 2012 V. Recommend using Dr. Prius app and code reader to test longevity of you HV battery. My understanding is that HV battery failure is more a function of time, not miles. Indeed, your Prius having only 60,000 would seem to raise the probability there was a long gap where the car was not driven which is very bad for battery longevity. Curious if you resolved yet? Was it inverter?
