I have a 2010 Prius with 180K miles. For some reason my dash lights are dimming. It has gotten to the point that it is difficult to see the dashboard in the daytime. The rheostat is turned up to max. What can I do to fix this?

I guess it could be, but the rheostat seams to work throughout its range with no dead spots. Everything on the display works, and the dimness is uniform throughout the display.

try contacting matt at texas hybrid batteries. he rebuilds the combo meters, and may have an understanding of how the lights work

Dumb question, but: when turning the dash brightness dial up, you did push it past that first point of resistance, to full bright?

Not until you said to. Eureka, there was light. Thank you. It took more force than I would have put on it, but it clicked on to a position that was obviously a full on and was considerably brighter than the rheostat controlled positions.

Not until you said to. Eureka, there was light. Thank you very much. It was more force than I would have put on it, but it clicked to a full on position. That position is considerably brighter than the changeable mode.
Thanks to all that responded (y)

Sounds like you drive around with the parking lights, or headlights on during the day.

Dimming of the dashboard brightness is normal in that case, and yes, turning up the rheostat to Max brightness by clicking past the top setting will make the dashboard backlighting bright enough to see during the day.
