i can't wait to see and read about it. that being said, i'm glad we got the last year of this gen, and in 3-5 years, most of the bugs should be ironed out of the next.

@drash, I edited your title now that it's been unveiled

Toyota Unveils the Powerful and Purely Hybrid Next Generation Camry - Toyota USA Newsroom

    • Redesigned Stylish New Look and High-Tech Interior
    • Exclusively Equipped with 5th Generation Toyota Hybrid System available in FWD and AWD
    • Powerful Hybrid System with Up-to 232 Net-Combined Horsepower on AWD Model – 30HP Increase Over Prior Mechanical AWD Model
    • Re-Engineered Suspension and Braking System for Balanced Handling and Comfort
    • Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 Standard
    • Development and Manufacturing led by U.S.

Powering the Camry is Toyota’s first-ever sedan pairing of its 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine and fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5). Combining the engine’s power with two electric motors, this dynamic new HEV has a standard 225 net combined horsepower on Front Wheel Drive (FWD) models and 232HP on Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) equipped models. Toyota engineers have also tuned the new HEV system at lower speeds to reduce engine RPMs and increase power from the traction battery to provide satisfying acceleration and torque feel. The Toyota Camry will also adopt the “Beyond Zero” badge to signal Toyota’s strong commitment to reducing carbon emissions and its vision for a carbon-neutral future.

For the first time ever on a Camry Hybrid, Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system will be available on all grades. For added peace of mind, the AWD system provides additional traction when needed, like during inclement weather or while cornering. The AWD system’s capability comes from a dedicated rear electric drive motor generator that automatically supplies power to the rear wheels when needed.

Hmm… more power and acceleration, glad we didn’t wait.
I do like the red seats though, and more comfortable seat cushions would be welcome on long trips

Unless you stop paying the subscription, then the seats turn black and get uncomfortable.

Next-gen 2025 Camry will arrive at US dealers circa March 2024. It will only come as an HEV, with no ICE-only versions—about time. However, unfortunately, there will not be a PHEV version.

Its TSS 3.0 is a downgrade from what is on Gen 5 Prius Prime, lacking FCTA, LCA, TJA, and PA unless you get the optional package available only for XLE and XSE.

Saw this in the news - Camry, top selling car in US will only be hybrid - and came here to Prius Chat for more info. Since it is Toyota, is this the Prius hybrid system? Why go with a Camry over a Prius? Toyota will now offer 2 vehicles as hybrid? I know Prius also comes as all electric, that doesn't factor in to my questions.

    1) Prius does not come in all electric

    2) hybrid Camry has been available since 2006 or 7

    3) this is announcing that there will be no more non hybrid Camry

    4) many Toyota models are available in hybrid as well

    5) it is very similar to the Prius system, different engines, batteries and etc

Size and shape. On paper the two cars might sound pretty similar to the single commuter.

But if you had the chance to try both for say.... a 1,200 mile family vacation, you would find some real differences.

There are a lot more than two hybrids from Toyota now- the technology is getting into everything.

Takes me 30 seconds or more, to decipher what constitutes a HEV…, just say “hybrid”, everybody knows that one.

Isn't like any hydraulic hybrids became available outside some commercial tests.

    In the wrong forum.

You missed the next-gen Camry HEV by only one year?

What's so offensive about low MPG hybrid cars is it defeats the entire spirit and intent of hybrids being more efficient... It's about as stupid as buying a super large and very expensive flat panel TV but it only comes in low definition image quality. How stupid do they think we are?
