My setup seemed to work fine until I started driving. The picture for the DVD went out, I have no bluetooth access or RDS Text MSG when the vehicle is moving. It seems like part of the lockpick is not working. Any ideas? Could I have plugged something into the wrong spot?

    Thanks,

There is an option for our displays to remain on the currently displayed screen instead of switching back to the Engery screen. Do you have it setup that way? I haven't gotten my lockpick (ordered it on Thrus 12-14) but I hope this is not an issue. I also read from another post that someone with a lockpick for a 2005 prius had this problem and that coastaltech replaced it. Let us know what happens.

That is not the problem, I checked it. I called Coastal this morning and emailed them. I have yet to hear back. I will keep you all posted on the outcome.

    I found the problem :)

When I put the lockpick part behind the screen there was a little bit of pressure against the chip that is shrink wrapped. I relocated the board to remove the pressure and "voila" it works as advertised.

I would also like to note that Coastal followed-up with me via phone in a timely manner! :D

I have ZERO complaints with the and would recommend them to anyone.

    Best,

    CapeCod

    YAY! cool,
Tomorrow I get mine and it arrives just at the start of my vacation after work too! Thanks for the INFO i will keep an eye out for this. Please people show some images of your setups. I also want to see what the lockpick looks like and where the jacks are, the cords it comes with and the instruction book if possible. I wonder where I will put my DVD player but with minimal wires coming out and getting it powered and also still have the ability to disconnect and add a game system!!!!
    AHHHHHH
    i'm excited....hehe

Yes, Pictures please!! I'm still trying to get up the nerve to try this install by myself..... that may take awhile though, but pictures of all of your installs would help i'm sure. I can follow instructions rather well, just ask my wife

A question for those of you who have installed the Lockpick 3 in a 2006...

When you enable either destination input or phone input and then return to either the Info or Consumption screens, do the wheels on the display still turn, and do the mileage bars still update correctly?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if the Lockpick 3 for 2006 does its thing via a software "override" similar to the one found in the diagnostic menus in 2005 and earlier models, or if it acts like the "car is not moving" switch hack that has been discussed in other threads on this site. If it is the latter, I may decide to not get a Lockpick 3 after all, as the "car is not moving" hack messes up the MPG display and also prevents the NAV system from accurately displaying your position on the map.

    Thanks for the clarification,

    Peter.

Is it possible to install the ultimate lockpick components that attach to the back of the MFDd by popping off the middle speaker and accessing the MFD that way rather than taking apart half the dash?

    Rick,

Specifically, what model and make DVD player did you install. I spent half of my day installing a Bravo in dash unit and it was having some problems. I would just get Black and White on the DVD and menus coming out of the unit. It would be color for about a second or 2 and then go B&W. The Bravo has front inputs-when I plugged in my video ipod it worked in color and the built in TV tuner in the Bravo was color. I then took my home DVD player and plugged that into the prius and it worked in full color. Either the monitor is picky about syncing with different units or the Bravo was faulty. I am sending it back and I want to replace it with something that is proven.

Please let me know what you are using.

    Thanks,

    CapeCod

What kind of DVD player are you using? I installed a Bravo in dash unit and it was B&W when I played DVDs or the on-screen menu came up. If I was using the front inputs it was fine, as was the built in TV tuner. I wonder it the Prius screen has problems syncing with certain units.

Is is still happening or did you find a fix?

    Thanks,

    CapeCod

I have a polaroid PDM-0725. I wasn't able to fix it yet. At first I thought I did, i went into the Service menus and messed with the Flicker Option for the TFT and tried like every setting and it was working then after the car was turned off and back on it didn't work regardless of what TFT setting I gave it. First I thought it could be the DVD's so i tried others and some would often stay in color others mostly BW. But it is somethign with the syncing because at first it shows in color but the the whole screen does a quick shift to the left and turns BW. But i tried a Nintendo Gamecube and different games and that worked just fine. hmmmm

I had the same experience...a quick shift to the left and then B & W.

I just bought a Clarion in-dash unit and I will try that one today. It did work fine when I plugged in my home DVD player so I am hoping that this will work.

    I will keep you posted.

OK...I got it all together and it is working.

I used a Clarion VS755 in-dash DVD player and mounted it in the DIN opening under the factory radio. It is in color and sounds (and looks) great.

I plug my video ipod into the front input and it works great.

I have the factory XM unit and the sound was soft after connecting the DVD player. I found that if I just connected the center pin of the audio RCA plugs it worked perfectly (this is the same as adding a ground loop isolator). I did not have an isolator handy so I just connected the center pins and it works great. There is not alternator whine or anything.

    Finally success!

Thats good to Hear! Wish i could see your setup.
I tried another Portable DVD player and that seemed to work just fine. I'm thinking that it maybe my dvd player and its composite signal generator. Either way the other one works fine. Now i just need to convince my parents to trade with me :)

Perhaps that is because we do not have an alternator... I don't think the DC/DC converter generates any noise, yet another benefit of a Hybrid.

Received my Ultimate Lockpick 3 this week for our 2006 Prius. It came promptly from Costal Electronic Technologies. It took me 1.5 hours to install today. I am very pleased with the functionality of the unit(s).

My wife and I were in route to a destination today and wanted to enter the address into the GPS to make sure we took the right exit. She was able to enter the address without me having to pull over. It is also nice not to have to hit the "I Agree" button when you start the car each time. While my wife was in a store I watched a video and some photos I had on my Ipod.(nice way to kill some time)

    I found the instructions and installation to be straightfoward. My suggestions/recommendations to someone interested in doing this installation themselves is;

    1) Take your time and be patient.
    2) Place a face cloth around your putty knife when prying to prevent scratches to air vents and other parts.
    3) Take pictures along the way if you are concerned about putting things back where they came from.
    4) The instructions state you may want to take the radio out to help make the installation easier. I found this to be a necessity.
    5) The Ipod male output connector cables do not color code match to their female connector cables.
    6) Make sure to have the Ipod unit's video settings set properly for exporting video.

    Hi CapeCod,

I'm going to buy a DVD player for this purpose. Do you recommend the VS755? Does it easily fit in the DIN under the radio?

    thanks and Merry Christmas
