Audio Mute button

I use the Mode button to mute regularly. One quirk is that you don't push it again to un-mute.

If you do it acts as a Mode switch and changes the audio source. To un-mute you must use the volume control that's on the other side of the steering wheel. If you forget and hit Mode to un-mute you will have to hit it multiple times to scroll back to your original audio source.

 

Thank you for this tip. I hadn't read through the manual yet, but this will save me the trouble. I confirmed in my '24 this works. Push and hold the Mode button to mute/pause, then push and hold it again to unmute/resume.

 

Same as Gen 4.

 

If you hold down on the Mode button a second time, it will unpause/unmute.

 

If you press and hold (~ 2 secs) the mode button again it will unmute

 

Hey there, I mute by pressing down on the knob that adjusts the volume. Whenever you want to unmute, you can just press the knob again. Cheers!

Thanks everyone for this. I checked and it is also (sort of) on page 30 of the multimedia guide. Thought I had checked (the pdf with search), but apparently I missed it.)

 

Ideally Toyota should have designed the volume nub on the steering wheel such that pressing down on it = mute.

 

On my 2024 the steering wheel button mutes the audio.

 

Pressing the volume knob (next to the screen) does pause audio playback. Pressing it again resumes audio.

Have tested this with multiple Android Auto apps.
