Hello all, after the jack coming up through the driver’s side rear jacking point, I realized the rust was going too far. So I put it up for 20,000 SEK, roughly half the typical asking price of a Prius my age and mileage, was very clear that the buyer be ready for some serious welding, and still the phone was ringing off the hook within a minute!

How is this possible?? The car won’t pass inspection and needs serious work done, I would never have expected this level of interest.

Well the tyres are almost new and the cat was replaced, but I looked and it seems the cats aren’t as expensive anymore.

I don't know how it is in Sweden but there is huge demand for used cars in the USA lately.

Not enough new ones made/sold during the pandemic, so there's a lot more competition for the older & more used. Plus the prices went up, so there's even more demand for ones with low prices.

This isn't terribly helpful because many would-be buyers don't understand how used-up some of these cars really are- they just see a price they can afford and blind themselves to the rest.

Because some people are just that silly is what it boils down to they know not what they're getting into and they have somebody who's going to do the work or so on and so forth they buy the mess they don't realize what they've bought into I see these things sitting all over the place where people got it for $700 and we're going to do this this that and all and they grab a Ford focus for $1,000 or what have you and now here I come along and buy the car for $400 the dreams were shattered they had to get back to work the list of nonsense is endless. But in this day and age of the internet if you ask and just wait some dingbat will come along and that's made it bad for everybody because now everybody just sits and waits for an idiot and then if they don't come they'll still get four or $500 when they send it off to the scrap yard I remember when I used to get Corollas and Toyota Celica's supras stuff like that for $300 and way better shape than I see stuff now I've never paid any money for vehicles seriously I've never bought a new car and had a car payment in my whole life and really wouldn't want one on anything like that car motorcycle No I just buy them out right they don't need to be new.

I would imagine there's a very limited supply of Prius vehicles available for parting out in Sweden. Although the body may be rusty, there may easily be enough good pieces to make it worthwhile to disassemble, especially if someone has a good body or two to put those parts into.

Sold it after three days for 30,000 SEK to a mechanic, he even took it to the shop to hoist it and check it out properly.
