I can't figure out which shim kit for my Rear Brakes:
    Toyota 04946-12090
    Toyota 04946-47070
The only difference I see in the pictures I find is the hole in the 3rd shim.

    Does anyone know?

I thought for the rear shim kit you're alignment guy would tell you what you needed I haven't done any rear shimming or that kind of alignment It's had a four-wheel alignment didn't need anything when adjustment in the front on the toe or something I know that their shims in the back but I didn't know it was something you DIY played around with usually your alignment guy I'll tell you you need whichever shim it is or he just sticks it in there for you because that's what they do with alignment or something I'm not really that well versed on the rear shim and hopefully I don't have to become well versed with it. For some reason I don't think the rear shim in this type of setup is anything that causes any kind of serious tire wear any kind of real strife for the owner or the car.

He's talking about anti-squeal shims not alignment shims. ;)

Usually when you buy any of the quality pad sets for the front or rear of this model the shims are installed on the pads already You don't need to do anything Don't the Toyota pads even from the Toyota dealer come with the shims already installed on the pads these days? Seriously no wow okay I mean I haven't bought pads at the dealer and I don't know man 25 years over the years they've been Akibono or zebrakenko etc and one could buy pads from either of those manufacture. And if you buy any of the American brand name pad sets like Wagner duralast or wherever gold all of those brands come with the shims mounted to the pads you can remove them if you want they can fall off in the box and you look at the one they didn't fall off of and put them back like that and you're good to go I'm not sure about the Toyota branded shims maybe they are for two different brake models I don't know what breaks are on the generation 3 maybe there are two different brake brands available given where the car is sold like old Corollas and truenos had either Aki or zebra brakes on specific regions.

    Thanks for your responses.
(Toyota pads do not come with the anti-squeal/rattle shims.)

Maybe that's why I don't buy them they seem to be or used to me seemed pricey I could buy the brake pads from the break manufacturer whichever one Toyota used at the time for almost $20 less or better than the Toyota dealer and I didn't have to drive over there and they came with the shims either in a bag in the box or clipped onto the pads ready to drop into the holders on the car and the aftermarket pads all have the shims if there anything above $14.
