Good morning, I have a 2007 (generation 2) base model Prius with 75K on the odometer. The MFD screen is becoming much harder to see during the daytime. The screen has become much darker over time. I examined the brightness option and increased the brightness to the highest level. This had no change as the brightness was already up to the maximum level. The screen works perfectly in that I have no dead areas and I am able to access all the touch screen buttons.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

I think you have a "SUNBURST" faded display screen. Happenins with age. You can buy a brand new one for $300 and install it yourself...
Or send it to UFIX and they will do it for $450.

Take it apart when you get the screen out you'll see it's Toshiba electric And with the numbers on the back of that thing you can find a replacement screen the part you're holding in your hand when you take it apart I have pictures here someone found some on eBay one time for I think $70 60 bucks seem to work but that was some time ago no telling what will happen now.

Thank you for your post. Is the damaged part the touch screen? I have observed them replaced. Or is it the screen that the touch screen adheres to?

It is the screen that the touchscreen or digitizer attached too. You could find a used one and swap the whole thing out.But with your low miles I would want to keep that car for another 8 years. The company was German Auto Tech out of California. I'll see if I can find a link.

I was in the junkyard yesterday. There were two Gen 2 Prii with their MFD screens missing.

If you are into u-pull junkyards, if you watch the inventory they are filling up with Gen 2 these days, so if you get in before the crowd you may be able to get a very cheap usable MFD. but its a gamble.

One tricky bit is pulling off the AC vents, they will likely crack, so highly likely to need replacement.

I can second that. Did the combo meter repair on mine and my two center vent trim pieces shattered like egg shells and most of those I touched in the 4 Prius' in the junkyard shattered the same. I had to order one of Amazon.
