Lost RFID sensor

No you need to find that black sensor that trapezoidal shaped miniature small Jesus Lord it's tiny. It looks like a rock on the driveway I wish you luck You need to find it that is your transponder chip. It can be cloned but you need to have it in order to clone it If not you're in for a real bunch of malarkey at the dealer I think with your VIN number and all that they can make something happen but boy is it going to be about $500 or some outrageous price you'll have to obviously have a new fob and all of that I think with your VIN number and some other number they can come up with all that there are ways to do it in the aftermarket but things can get lost in the translation and possibly wind up costing you more lots of fun.

 

It is not a transponder chip, it is an RFID chip. The two are quite functionally different.

 

Yeah okay RFID transponder my locksmith calls them all transponders I don't care what they are If you lose them it's a big problem so there's always that You don't want to be doing that You want to go out and try to find it or maybe you don't

 

RFID and transponder chip are one and the same at least my Italian bike manufacturer think so.Piaggio

There were two types of key fob systems on the Gen2 Prius.

One was the Smart Key System (SKS). It let you carry the fob in your pocket, walk up to the car. It would unlock as you touched the door handle and you could just get in and push the power button to start the car. There was a dash slot, but you didn't need to use it.

The fob had a silver logo on back, and the car had a small black button on the outside handles of the front doors and tailgate. The was a "key" button under the dash by the steering column. (that turned the SKS on or off)

Non SKS cars had you press the fob buttons to work the locks, and you had to use the slot to start the car. The fob had a black logo on it.

Do you have SKS or not?

If you only have one fob, and you lost the RFID chip (little piece circled in red), then you have an "all keys lost" situation. You need a capable locksmith or a dealer to reset the immobilizer ecu and program new fobs to the car.
