    Hi all

I recently bought a Toyota prius 2007. Noted problem with air conditioning / heating. It turns on randomly (especially after a sudden jerking movement). When it turns on , it works perfectly fine. Then I changed the blower motor. Now the fan/motor turns on (can hear the loud noise) but no air coming out of vents. Changed air filters but no change. Can anyone suggest what to do? Thanks

What blower motor did you use? I have seen after market blowers that were wired wrong and spun backwards. They made noise but didn't move air.

What you want to do is when you're installing a blower motor after you take the three bolts loose facing down to the floor and drop the motor and fan impeller out plug up the new one sit it on the floor or hold it in your hand whatever you want to do and turn on the fan You don't have to turn on the air just the fan itself and then try the speeds Make sure it's turning I believe clockwise We will feel the air moving if it's going the right way even out of the box and the ductwork If it's going backwards it won't even spin the air backwards I don't think it just slices through the air and does nothing when it's turning correctly you will feel the resistance while holding the bottom of the motor in your hand if you're not careful it will jump out of your hand on high speed so don't let go of it or let it gouge into the carpet and stop the motor and all this kind of nonsense.

Take it out and do the test I talk about below unscrew it leave it plugged into the motor turn the car on ACC mode but the fan on low does it start to turn in your hand now hit medium medium medium and high does the fan change each time you push the next speed there you go It should be turning clockwise so if you point the fan motor in your hand so the impeller is facing away from you it'll be turning right all the time

    Step 1, confirm it.

Plug the old motor in but leave it loose under the dash.

Power the car on and turn the blower on low. See which direction it turns (if it's not working try smacking the motor housing with something like a screwdriver handle).

Pull the cabin air filter, turn the blower on and see which way the new motor spins.

If it's wrong, either return it as defective and get one that's correct. Or try to swap wires in the connector (not my preferred method, but...)
