I tried to give the car to a shop to see where the noise coming from and they can’t find the problem and charged me even tho they didn’t find the problem. Anyways I got some noise everytime going over uneven noise. In the front passenger area. I already took out the dash but I can’t seems to pinpoint where the noise is from. Seems like the noise coming near the firewall. But the noise seems like plastic is hitting plastic.

Does the sound in your video change with how fast you're going? Or how about if the fan is on or not? It sounds to me like your front right wheel or axle is hitting against something, but if that was the problem the rhythm of the noise would change with your speed.

Main point: your car is 16 years old... Cars that old make lots of strange noises. If you want a car that doesn't make weird noises you need to buy something that still is new enough to have warranty coverage and have a dealership deal with it for free.

Alternatively, you can get good at taking stuff apart yourself and developing skills to eliminate noises, but if you expect a shop to do that for you with a 16 year old car they're just going to laugh with each other about it and charge you without even trying to find the noise.

mybe i'll try to put a gopro underneath if its the suspension area. I understand that the car is 16 year out and will make noise but this noise is loud and always there when going through uneven road which is everytime since sf road has alot of uneven road. i dont think i heard this noise before i change out the front suspension and removing the dash out. so i think its either inside, or like u say outside. but i try to roll down the passenger side window and im in the passenger side i dont hear the noise outside.

Is it always making the same noise / cadence at all speeds? Or does it change with how fast you are driving?

i think it depend on how many bumps on the street. like if u go on freeway i dont think u will hear it because its smooth. but if the road u driving on have bump and then smooth then u will hear the noise then when u on the smooth pavement u wont hear it.

In that case it sounds like a bad front axle, bearing or suspension problem...

wheel bearing, knuckle, strut/spring, lower balljoint, and tierod is new. except the axle, that why i thinking might be suspension making the noise since there wasnt any noise before i touch the dash and suspension. I will mount a gopro near the suspension and see if it makes any noise and report back mybe tomorrow.

Somebody had similar symptoms a couple months ago on here and it turned out to be CV joints/ axle.

I thought for a dash cam you would run that with a coat hanger down the headliner or along the edge of the headliner and drop down oh well no matter I got you sounds like a lot of fun.

Yes, the black motor assembly. There are three in the HVAC system. Two on the driver's side of the dash area (one for temperature, one for mode- where the air comes out). One on the passenger side (the recirculation / fresh air inlet door).

Try turning on the A/C system and change all the settings, one at a time & listen for the noise. First recirc, then maybe temperature (hot then cold), last go from dash to floor to defrost.

When that's really bad that motor will hunt for a position when you move the switch from your feet to the defrost to your face you'll hear the door moving and then you may hear it move back and forth and back and forth and back and forth until it moves some I don't know whiskers out of the way or whatever's going on in there and then it stops hunting You've got to clean out the mess in there that's making it hunt some will say it's something like 10 whiskers which is the well we're not even going there the electricians can come and talk about all that usually it's just cleaning.

checked today the only sound i heard is when the vent door open and close like a ekk sound not no gear finding sound.

ima put gopro in the engine bay and under the car again. sound seems coming from either the center or right side firewall.[/QUOTE]

It's not a gear finding sound it's the damper door trying to find a particular position I don't think a gear has much to do with it but anyway what I'm interested in is when you put it from floor to upper defrost how long does it take to get there does it have to look for that position like it can't find it you'll hear the door or the motor for the door moving and moving and moving and moving It's not vacuum operated like in some older cars apparently it's electric and it will hunt for the position while it looks for it and it should find it pretty quickly and go there if it's making this noise a lot then it's obviously probably not finding the position very well you'll know by putting your hand in the position you've selected and feeling the air coming if you just put the fan on If it takes a while for it to get from feet to defrost and that motor keeps moving that's hunting It's looking It should know right to go to the defrost position it shouldn't have to really look around

when i change position, like front window only, blowing air to you and etc its pretty quick and no sound. the only sound is when i change the air to outside air or recirculate thats when you hear the door closing or opening.
