I will be traveling for over six months and will have to store my Prius 2 in New England, I will have no access to the vehicle. I will have electricity available. Can this be done without destroying the HV battery?

    Probably. toyota says:

and 6 months is maybe still "a few"?

    Is it garage stored?

    A few thoughts:
    1. Disconnect the 12 volt neg cable for sure.
    2. Raise tire pressures to max sidewall, or raise the car and settle on jack stands, wheels slightly in the air or just lightly touching.
    3. Leave one window cracked, with towel stuffed in the gap.
    4. Shim the wiper arms to have wipers slightly off the glass.

FWIW, our '10 has a build-date of August, 2009, and when we purchased in November, 2010, it had about 10 kms on the odometer, was covered in dust, was sitting at the back of dealership's storage shed. A dead bird lay beside. Hybrid battery has been fine to date, though that hiatus was with a brand new car.

The Car Care Nut has a video on YouTube covering this that might be helpful.

Yes the car will be in a garage in Maine. I will be unable to get to the car for six months.

Follow Mendel suggestions and that should be fine.

The car isn't exactly running a stopwatch for this kind of thing.

If you're gone 27 weeks instead of 24 it isn't likely to matter.

Regarding 12v system- disconnecting the battery is the minimum, and probably is sufficient as long as the battery isn't too old. Weather is getting warmer, on your side.

That doesn't mean a trickle charger setup isn't a bad idea- just that it isn't a firm need either.

    Good luck!

@Mendel Leisk I think the rest of your suggestions are better suited for storing a car for ≥6 years! :ROFLMAO:
