So the story starts with the car suddenly dying while driving without warning. No codes, no power, no nothing. We tracked it down to a blown AM2 fuse. Replace it, jumped the battery, and it exploded again. Replaced the inverter water pump. Jumped the car and now it runs. It would run fine for like a second and then it sounded really rough popped some codes and I shut it off. The codes were P3190,P0300, P0303, and P0304. So I replaced the spark plugs. It did not seem to make a big difference in the way it ran, but the codes weren't reappearing after I cleared em. Ran it a longer this time and you can hear for yourself what happened. It popped new codes. P3190,P0300, P0302, P0304, and PO451. It is worth noting that I have tried moving around the coils to find a bad one with no luck so far. I am just very confused by the explosion, the sudden cool wind, the accelerating, and decelerating all by itself. Any input is greatly appreciated.

This is a video I took of what I am talking about.

Just out of curiosity what's your battery look like in Dr Prius? Or anything that can look at the battery? Obviously the car is running poorly so on and so forth. A compression check and that sort of thing may be in order. You got the poor running code or the car won't start code or whatever the heck I would also look at my MAF sensor Make sure it's clean In the last few weeks I've been driving a car that I bought at a junkyard and I have noticed that coming to a stoplight or stop sign All of a sudden my engine won't go to idler off it sits there and runs at like $1,500 to 2000 RPM for a few seconds and hunts like it's looking to shut down but it keeps running then it'll drop a little bit and then it comes back up until it finally shuts off and this just takes seconds It doesn't sound so good I also noticed when my battery on my MFD display is in the green and I let off the gas while I'm driving down a state highway going 45 50ish miles an hour the car seems to like act like I shifted from fourth to second gear like it's trying to slow me down just by me taking my foot off the gas which is normal but it seems excessive like I've moved the shift lever in a manual car everything on the car has no codes except for my ABS actuator which has been going on for months getting ready to change it again tomorrow morning other than that the battery in this thing is a replaced green bean I think and it's 3 years old plus I do believe so I'm wondering if maybe it's starting to act up but I really haven't done the diagnostics on the battery I've just been driving the car it also sits right around between 40 and 42 mi to the gallon where in most of these cars I get more like 45 to 47.

That's actually what I'm doing today. My mechanic brother in law came out and the car runs much much smoother with the maf simply unplugged. So after work I'm gonna replace it and see where we stand.

Just clean it first usually a q-tip and some throttle body cleaner or MAF cleaner will yield you a black q-tip and the working MAF I don't know what these things cost now if you buy them from denso but I think they're kind of expensive I have about 20 of them sitting here in a box whenever I'm at the yard I always grab that and other pieces off the throttle body just to have they're just going to get crushed in the junkyard anyway I haven't bought one of these in a long time same with coils anytime I'm out at the yard I always grab three four five whatever it is put them in a box. In the carport or the shop they sit and as I use them up I mark them and throw the bad ones out.

A clogged/malfunctioning injector could also cause a cylinder misfire.

In the video around 0:10 that sounds like an injector malfunctioning but it's hard to tell without some more testing.

Maybe I got lucky but I pulled my injectors and replaced them without really doing any tests. After pulling the injectors I did a resistance check on them just for fun. Three injectors had similar readings, and one was very high which gave me confidence I actually found the main issue.

Yeah it kind of sounds like injectors are snapping or one is out of sink or something and with a generation two all of these things should be getting to the $250,000 mi mark by now or the car's not dripping very much which that's wonderful if it's saving you miles but Prius really don't care about that so at 300k on a set of injectors generally it's getting close.
