I am the new owner of a 2011 3 Prius. It has 87,900 miles. It was bought new from my local dealer and I am the second owner. They have both passed and I purchased it from their daughter. My local dealership emailed me any maintenance or repair records they had for this car. I'm looking for any information about the factory recommended maintenance schedule. I want to know what should and/or needs to be done and at what time and/or milage.

It appears the usual maintenance was done such as oil changes and filters. They've replaced the 12V battery twice. At 86,000 miles the inverter and engine coolant was exchanged. I am going to type this as written on the work order, I don't know what it means but this is something done at 53,000 miles reflash motor generator and power management ECU.

I'd like to know if there is any maintenance that wasn't done when it should have been.

Currently my dealership is telling me the factory recommends brake fluid exchange for $185 and fuel injector and throttle bottle service with fuel tank cleaner at 90,000 miles for $227. Do I or should I have these services done?

    At 120,000 miles they recommend
    Fuel tank cleaner
    brake fluid exchange
    coolant system fluid exchange
    transmission service
    spark plugs

I'd really appreciate any opinion, advice or experiences that you've had.

    I had a 2002 Gen 1 Prius and I'm hooked, I love them.

here is a link to a posting from a long time Prius Chat member showing the schedule in spreadsheet format:

2010 Prius Maintenance Schedule (US) | PriusChat

Your dealer is recommending unnecessary services. Follow the guide.

There are different opinions about brake fluid. If you live in a low humidity area, fluid should be checked but may not need changing.

Your engine coolant was already done, doesn't need it again at 120k. Fuel tank cleaner is a waste of money.

They are correct that spark plugs should be changed at 120k.

Now for the somewhat controversial part. the EGR system does get clogged in the 2010 to 2015 Prius. Dealers ignore this but many people recommend cleaning it at 100 to 120k if you plan on keeping the vehicle long term.. Google to find out more.

Hopefully you're driving this car a lot and you'll be okay If not look out can be problematic when these cars aren't driven it seems to us at least so far.

I drive it almost daily. As for the elderly couple who I bought it from, I don't know. My feeling is that is wasn't driven in an average way. 87,000 for a 13 year old vehicle, makes me a little curious.

Find a friend or family member or reliable local mechanic to do your Prius maintenance... The Toyota Stealerships are warranty repair specialists who don't know how to repair stuff to keep costs down, only how to replace the most expensive parts to make the job as expensive as possible because it gives them more leverage with their contract numbers with Toyota to do lots of unneeded warranty work.

Also, I live a couple of hours north of you if you ever need any help. Just message me on here...
