When I first got my prime in 2017 I noticed the cargo light was pretty dim. I took the light assembly out with the intention of replacing the bulb. Well, I promptly lost the whole assembly. I just sold my Prime and in preparation for the sale I bought this to replace the missing light.

Amazon.com: iJDMTOY Super Bright 2W High Power Xenon White Full LED Trunk Cargo Area Light Assembly Compatible With Lexus, Compatible With Toyota, Powered by 20-SMD LED Diodes : Automotive

It is so much brighter than original and fits and looks as did the original. Plugs right into the original wiring plug. From start (when I removed it in 2017) to finish (when I bought this in 2024) only took me 7 years.

So, you mean it is a direct replacement without any modification for Prius?

I would like to give it a try. The OEM hatch area light in Prius is a joke. Just like the headlights of Gen3.

Yes direct replacement. Unplug original and plug in replacement. You will not be disappointed.

Here's a link ( hope it works ) to a bulb that fits the 2017 Prime. This bulb fits into the trunk light housing.
    https://www.amazon.com/Alla-Lighting-DE3021-Interior-Festoon/dp/B014P06YSM?th=1
The bulb I linked to is used for these 2017 Prime cabin lights ( Dome, Map, Trunk, Step Courtesy )
but not all those lights listed use the same housing as the trunk light.

I don't doubt that @randerson9248 product above fits the 2017 Prime, seeing that it looks to me like it includes the housing as part of the product.

edit these are probably not as bright as the one @randerson9248 linked to in the ( OP / original post ) .
I was going to go take a look at the housing in mine, but thought this would give you some ideas to double check, if you are interested in either product.

When I touch it, the link doesn't work as it's missing the : between https and //, although it shows it in the message.

    Oh Boie
We could not find the page you were looking for. But, maybe we can help.

Navigate through our top menu or contact our team, browse the forums or search for the keywords, to find what you were looking for. Or, start a new discussion by clicking on new thread, and open the conversation :)

it keeps getting [MEDIA] tagged for some weird new fangled security reason.
both quoting the URL in the post above and cut and pasting the URL without any bbcode tags

and a direct copy paste of the URL from the amazon page in
between [URL tags, maybe this will work better

crossing my fingers for the 4th time. 5th 6th time below using the remove formatting option - 7th using old url bbcode tag with description
    Alla - Lighting - DE3021 - interior - Festoon - dp - B014P06YSM?th=1
if you cut the URL without the https;// - open a new tab and add the https;// - than paste the rest of the URL dose that work?

7th and a jpg just in case.

It fits 2017 Prius Prime. Take the original out; unplug the original. Plug in replacement and snap back in. The seller apparently doesn't want to spend the time to test and list every toyota that it fits.

Between the two options, I think randerson9248's suggestion is better. It will be brighter. But you will lose the on/off switch which should not be necessary. If that is important to you, then I would say go with replacing the bulb.

I've never turned it off but the current one has never been an issue for me either.
