Pro-Clip USA phone holder available for gen5

    I don't know how long they've been available, but I just noticed today that ProClip has a phone/device holder for the gen5. (currently out of stock, but at least they've got the design locked down)

    For those who haven't had a ProClip holder before, they're a 2-piece solution. The base portion is specific to your car and fits a certain spot on the dash(typically an air vent) using mostly pressure with just a tiny bit of double-sided tape to prevent rattles.

    The second part is specific to your device type. They make different sizes(small phone/large phone/tablet) and you can also get charging built in(wired or wireless). This does mean they're quite a bit more expensive than typical phone holders, but I tend to believe they're worth the money. You can usually find a 15% discount code if you find a youtuber they've recently sponsored(currently LEGITSTREET15 works).

    Expensive but well worth it.

    Have 2 complete mounts for the A pillar and side cup holder mount in my Gen 3.

    A pillar mount for my portable Apple CarPlay

    side cup holder mount for my iPhone 13 Pro.

    FYI, atachmounts also makes a very similar looking one that is in stock now, if you don’t want to wait.

    I got notification last week that the ProClip mount was in stock, so I went ahead and got one.

    I just installed it, and I'm not sure I'm a fan of the current iteration of the mount.

    The bottom slides into the seam between the light bar and the vent. It works well enough, but leaves an unsightly gap.

    The main issue is the top. It slides behind the trim at the bottom of the display. But that trim piece is just clipped into the display to hide the wires, so it pops out very easily. The clip also puts pressure in the middle of the trim, which causes it to separate slightly at the end (it is made up of a top black and bottom silver piece clipped together), which is also unsightly.

    I mitigated the top trim issues somewhat by re-enforcing the trim with some double sided tape, but I'm not sure if this fix will last.

    What they should have done is reach further back at the top clip, and slide into the seam at the top of the vent, which should be much stronger than the display trim.

    Other than that, it looks quite good, what you'd expect from ProClip. Here's a picture. I will post an update once I've used it for a while.
