So i just purchased a used prolong charger and the automated discharger for my 2013 Prius V with 196k and the original battery. I still have to purchase and install the wiring harness for my V from hybrid automotive though as it was not included. I have a week off work upcoming and was hoping to do the first series of charge and balance during that week when i wont need the car. Im currently reading up on the instructions at hybrid automotive and want to make sure I get everything correct. Their instructions seem thorough but a bit confusing at times and seem to jump around, wish it was all in printable PDF and step by step or had a video walk though. I tried doing the Dr Prius test of the battery yesterday for the first time but at the end of the test it failed to complete and said try again, I dont think I got the turning on and off the headlights/air conditioner part correct but plan to redo it again this evening. The car still averages 46-52 miles per gallon which im extremely happy with but know at some point the mileage will start to catch up and wanted to go ahead and start this process now to get as much life as possible out of it before needing to replace. Does anyone have any tips that might be helpful who have used the prolong setup and about how often would you recommend doing the charge/discharge/balance? Thanks in advance

Once you set up the charger and get it running correctly, the instructions on their website won't be confusing anymore. Main thing you'll find your self going back to on their website is the charts that indicate discharge level and which light bulbs to use and when.

The one i have is the automated discharger that you apparently connect to the same harness and it does the discharge automatically, but there is a chart on that page I need to review. The link to the one I have is below:

Enjoy the discharge while it lasts... They tend to fail after you use them a few times... And a light bulb discharger can be made for almost free once that happens.
