I'm considering going ahead and swapping our my failing ABS pump, what scan tool is capable of the complete Prius brake bleed procedure including the Linear Solenoid Valve reset? I'm not interested in the bootleg Techstream option and I'm prepared to spend up to $200. There are so many scan tools our there, so surely one of them can function like Techstream for this function?

There's a useful recap at post 37, I would start there.

That list seems to be a bit dated. The only one that I can see that specifies the linear solenoid relearn is the Thinkdiag but reviews are not great for that scanner. If anyone has experience bleeding brakes with any other non-Techstream scantool, please post the details.

The ThinkDiag is the only smartphone based option that I have seen that specifically lists the linear solenoid relearn. I haven't tried that function personally (haven't needed it). Otherwise it seems to have all TechStream capabilities.

My only "complaint" with the ThinkDiag is that you have to pay a subscription every 12 months to keep it functional.

If you want to look at some handheld scantools, you would have to email the company to see if it had the relearn function. I can't tell from the adcopy what the actual capabilities of a given tool is.

It might not be the most critical feature to have ... I know gen 3, anyway, has a non-Techstream way to kick off the linear solenoid learning, just with a jumper wire. Too lazy right now to look up whether gen 2 also has that, but it seems likely.

Yeah, I'm sure one of those handheld scanners has all the Techstream brake bleed functionality, so I'm hoping someone here has experience with such a unit. I don't fancy my chances of getting a helpful reply from one of those Chinese manufacturers.

There are handheld scan tools that can do those advanced functions – things made by Autel, Xtool, and the like. They usually are getting into the tablet form factor by that stage and the price goes up commensurately. So, you choose your choke point and make your choice.
