Returning home the other evening after a longish (~100 miles) drive, I was amazed to see the dreaded RED TRIANGLE of DEATH appear. I have 2 ScanGuages and each gave me a list of flagged codes:
    April 15th -
    C3986 -
    B0672
    C3186
    C3286
    B066F
    B0672
    P006B
    B0676
P0073 (This is a short list!)
    April 28th -
    P0A93
I got home without any problems and when I took CHGYPYG (2009 Prius Gen II) into the local stealership, the RED TRIANGLE was no longer displayed, and the car was behaving perfectly, and of course the stealership told me that they could only diagnose the problem whilst the error was being flagged, and to bring it in next time the fault occurs! The fault has occurred several times in the past couple of weeks and each time, I have cleared the fault codes using the function on the ScanGuages. The car is a 2009 Toyota Prius Gen II with around 245,000 miles on the odometer, all the fluid levels are OK, the fuel consumption since the last fill-up is around 49MPG (here's the fuelly log if you like: ChuggyPig (Toyota Prius) | Fuelly )
The car is running beautifully and I'd just like to know what is going on. I discovered that the was a recall back in the early 2000's for an inverter-pump, and the stealership told me that CHGYPYG had that done in 2013 which was the year before I purchased the car. Anyone have any ideas? Suggestions? Many thanks in advance!

I would change the inexpensive inverter pump first without spending much more time in diagnosis. If this solves the issues you are all set. The pump probably is in its way out resulting in some overheating of the inverter cooling system at specific conditions. It likely still works but not very efficiently.

The main thing I see in the list is your inverter pump. Maybe check the 12 volt

Have you tried looking those up in a Repair Manual yet? The one on 28 April is the only one I even recognize.

Me not recognizing a code doesn't mean it's necessarily bogus (it's not like I'm familiar with 'em all), but something about that 15 April list is making me think the ScanGauge might not be very good at reading codes. If you look in the manual and have trouble finding a lot of them, that would suggest the same thing.

Or if you do find them, or some of them, you could post a few words of what you found for each one; that can save duplicated effort where 5 people read your thread and have to do the same lookup.

Good point! I'll take a look and see what I can find! Thanks!

I took the liberty to look all those codes up in the RM because, like Chap, I did not recognize any but one.

Sure enough, all but P0A93 are not found.

Maybe this has more to do with your ScanGuages than your car.
