New to me 2007. 85k miles. Likely original HV battery. I presume lots of sitting around as it was a fleet car.

P3000 and P0A80 shows up. The bus bars were somewhat corroded so I cleaned them all.

Ran fine for a couple days. Codes came back with a better clue about block 8 (also see below volt and ohm readings):
    • P3000 Battery control system
    • P0A80 Replace hybrid battery pack
    • P3018 Battery block 8 becomes weak
    • C1259 HV system regenerative malfunction
    • C1310 HV system malfunction
    • B1421 solar sensor circuit
My other Prius has had the Nexpower lithium for almost a year and it’s been great. I plan to do the same swap on this one too given it’s a 17 year old car and battery.

Is that overkill? Can this be salvaged?

If you've got plenty of time and your time you don't feel as that valuable and want something to do yeah you could make it better? Why You can replace whether you go new Toyota or aftermarket something another lithium etc are you going to make your battery that's 17 years old near as good as the nex cell or factory? More than likely not and then all the discharging and charging cycles and so on and having the trim out of the back of the car and on and on and on where do you fit in with that so you've got plenty of time and not a lot of money and so on but you've already budgeted for a battery. And now backtracking to well if I can possibly save a few. But yes you could make it better but that takes time and the cars apart and you're trying to do what in between this time work etc? It's just how you divy up your time. But at 85,000 mi yeah the battery died from mostly sitting apparently because the car is not even well broke in I hope at 85,000 mi it looks pretty much like a brand new car a fleet car I imagine it might have that ugly tan interior but at 85K it should be lightly cleaned and be looking new.

Thanks. Sounds like you’re saying get a new battery!

I thought I might be able to get by without a new battery because it was averaging 45 mpg over a couple hundred miles on the trip meter. I guess that is not a foolproof sign.
