    Greetings Prius Pals,

I just finished a head gasket job myself. The shop quoted me $4k. I'm not a mechanic, but I did grow up on a farm. So, I consider myself decently Mechanical. Thanks to the awesome help on this website (Shout out to Mendel Leisk! He is the G.O.A.T.!), the youtube channel Gasket Masters, and the goofy guy at "Saneauto", the job is done. Almost...
I have followed every step, heeded every warning, and double checked everything. However, the engine will not run. I have searched this site all over and not found any answers.

I got everything put back together except the wipers because I did want to have to take them off again if it didn't work. I attached all the wires. I filled it with all the proper oil and antifreeze, with the proper volumes. I connected the battery and plugged in the orange safety plug. Lights came on and all seemed fine. When I started the car, it would power up, but the engine would never come on.

I bought a ANCEL BD310 OBD2 scanner to see the error messages and get a report. I got the codes P0213 and P0113. After consulting this page, I realized I forgot to connect the MAF cable. Classic mistake!
I cleaned the MAF sensor, connected the cable, and I cleared the codes with the scanner. Engine still wouldn't come on. Did I miss something?

I then read on here that if I put it in maintenance mode that the engine would run. I tried the sequence many times, but when I get to the last step, the engine doesn't turn on or run in maintenance mode. It just shuts off! It doesn't stall or putter or anything. It just acts like I just hit the power/start to shut off the car.

    I have some questions:
    • When I connect my to the scanner and enter the diagnostic, I see two ECU options. It says ECU#8 and ECU EA (I think that is what the two options were called...). It still connects to the same car computer right? I looks like its just two different options? Like an easy mode and more complicated mode?
    • The maintenance mode not working... am I doing something wrong or is it not running because the engine doesn't want to run so its protecting itself... ?
    Other info:
    • There are several warning lights on when I power the car up. I just thought it was normal because of everything I have done. I can post the different warning lights here if needed. (check engine and yellow "!" to name a few).
    • I have attached a PDF of the report. There are lots of things on there... I don't know what 80% of it means.
    • I can post pictures if needed.
    What am I missing???

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Update: as humbling as it is to admit, I did not put the battery safety plug in correctly. I had it in, but I didn't not slide it over to complete the circuit. I plugged it in correctly and it started in maintenance mode. However, it only ran for 3 seconds, then It stopped. I have P0031 and P0340 sensor errors I need to look at now.
