I'm sorry I don't know what it looks like to begin with did it used to have the blue tulip there or can it screw on there?

The original looks like this and sticks horizontally into the cabin.
This modification makes for a safer shifter in case of a crash.
The ergonomics is also makes shifting a more natural motion.

Oh that's cool I guess I kind of like the blue tulip that came on the generation 3 when it first came out in 2010 I have that knob in my generation twos and the old generation 2 knobs are God knows where I think the threading on the knobs is pretty standard so you can screw on a bunch of things there if you wanted I do believe

Yes, the threads are standard M6x1.0 thread. You just unscrew the knob in the anti-clockwise direction and screw on the new one.

Bending the shifter shaft was easy.

All we did was remove the shifter and the knob, marked the shaft about 1/2 inch beyond the threads, clamped the shaft in a vise and slowly bent it to the final desired position.

Used extra shifters are exceptionally cheap on eBay, because they don't often go bad.

Ball knobs with M10x1.0 threads are very inexpensive on Amazon.

    Great fun.
I could see me adding the classic "Cue Ball" knob.
Then there was the old Mopar (Dodge) wooden pistol grip or (was it Ford?) aluminum "T" knob.
    Again, great fun Georgina :)

Not a problem. My dad's friend made all these over the past 10 years.
